how do you guys stretch before upper body workouts?

i usually just do dynamic stretching for my lower body, but for upper body i rarely do anything. I think SL showed me some video of something that i did a few times, but besides that i don't stretch at all.

However, I know this isn't optimal before a workout and definitely want to start. Do you guys have any ideas for dynamic stretching for the upper body before a workout? Thanks!

Bro I was just going to ask the same thing in my fitness log lol! I do:

Shoulder dislocations
scapular wall slide
windmill things(just swing you arms around back and forth lol!)

I need more exercises too, particularly for shoulders:(

quick full body every morning and every night, dc after workouts, and deep tissue massage once per wk.

im sorry i didnt read the whole title. i never stretch anything before a work out. i suggest you only stretch after you are done with the muscle you are going to stretch or if you want to throw a stretch set in as a last set that works to. stretching before a workout just makes it easier to let the weight rest on your joints which is a bad thing. stretching after the work out reduces that risk plus you get a far more effective stretch.

5-10 minutes cardio to raise core temp.

Wrist, elbow, and shoulder circles forwared and backwards.

Shoulder dislocates with a stick.

Chest and lat stactic stretches.

Foam roller work too if you have access.

This should get you warmed up and ready to move some weights. Scap wall slides and push up plus are good too. Check out the Diesel Crew vids on youtube for some good ideas.

I dont stretch but I always make sure to properly warm up my shoulder before a bench session, I just do shoulder dislocators and then grab some 5lb dumbells and do laterals, front raises, rotator cuffs and shoulder presses with them till my shoulders are burning a little. I used to stretch out my lats and warm them up with assisted pullups before benching too but dont bother anymore.

Jdid isn't talking about static stretches, he is talking about mobility drill style stuff, like the shoulder dislocations and wall slides and such, dynamic stretching:)

I know what he's talking about bro.

What percentage of trainees do you think have tight chests and lats????? All of them? lol

He also asked how do we stretch before upper body workouts :)
