How do women hold back, when so many men want sex?

musclemom said:
Why the hell don't you go to the library and do a little research? Look up sexuality and psychology. You'll get much better information from Masters and Johnson, Shere Hite and Kinsey than you do from this board. What you're getting from this board is mostly observation colored by personality.

Basic biology, millions of sperm vs. one egg. One passionate embrace and a sploog vs. 9 months of pregnancy followed by another 10+ years of responsibility.

The fact is, tens of thousands of years of evolution outweighs a couple of decades of industrial revolution. Women have a biological imperative, that overrides the recent advent of easy birth control and increased dollar value in the job market, to (GENERALLY) be somewhat more selective with whom they breed.

Not to mention that it takes A LOT more for a woman to enjoy sex than merely a stiff dick that't attached to some random horny jackass.

Why get nekkid for lackluster ass? :whatever: They make vibrators that will git er done in minutes, available on demand, don't have to listen to hours of mindless prattle while stroking his ego, you don't have to listen to him snore all night or be pissed at him because he didn't put out the trash... AGAIN. :lmao: .....and it won't keep blowing up your cell even after you've major blown him off.

I love Shere Hite, she is just so cool.

The biological imperative is such that women want 'rugged' men when they are ovulating, and more 'refined' men the rest of the month.

Taking birth control pills has also altered how our biological drive works. They mimic pregnancy, and when pregnant, women seek out those that 'smell' more like kin.

This 'smell' thing is being linked to MHC, major histocompatibility complex or HLA, human leucocyte antigen, marker on all of our cells. It is thought that these molecules are the 'phermones' which attract us, well actually our immunological systems, we seek out partners that have as different HLA to us, increase our chances of fending off pathogens.

All that being said, if we are nothing more than our biological wiring, we really are just naked apes.

Personally, I wish more people would actually acknowledge what basic animals we are, then we may not be fated to follow the behaviour of basic animals.

I've found that MHC factor and the impact BCPs have on it, in terms of the baby having health problems, just fascinating.

IMHO, I think the older you get the further you get away from the wiring and (ideally) the more cognizant you are of your behavior and the motivating factors behind your actions.

So true, especially when you do see how we are all electro-chemical.

BCPs?

Well, you know it's funny, we've got such a twisted view of things in this country, with our near worship of youth and youthful beauty, but most cultures/religions don't consider a person "ADULT" until they've reached AT LEAST the age of 35.

A good example is traditionally the Kabala was not taught to a person until they'd reached the age of 40.

All I know is the more I watch the crap my son (going on 23) and his wife are doing to themselves and each other, the more clear it becomes that they're babies, seriously.

And that's not saying that people aren't intelligent in their 20s, it's just the emotional maturity simply is not there. I have no doubt I'm not one I.Q. point smarter than I was when I was in high school (hell, I might even be dumber than I was then, seems like my memory and attention span has gotten worse) I still like a lot of the same things I liked when I was in my late teens and 20s, but it's the way of looking at things that's changed, the general approach to life. I've gotten a lot better at realizing that most shit ain't life or death and knowing that the stuff that DOES qualify as life or death means you don't mess around.

Agreed...

I put up a post on C&C several weeks back about how I admired the fire the 20somethings had in their bellies... would like to recapture that my own bad self...

Lotsa fire though, does NOT = positive end result. Hopefully w/age and life experience we learn how to channel that fire.... either that, or the fire goes out and we just get old and sit around and wait to die.

OMG the ENTHUSIASM of youth!!! YES, that I would love to have back. The focus, the drive. I can remember getting fired up about an art project and not being able too walk away from it, even to the point of not eating or sleeping.

Shit, anymore everything seems like it's all too much damn work  I'm doing good if I make a decision to get a couple of items done over the course of the day and actually discover that I accomplished most of the list by the time I get to bed. I don't know what it is, cumulative stress or what.

And you know what I find FUNNIEST about that shit? When a man asks a woman how many partners she has had he actually expects her to tell the truth!
:

I stopped asking that question because I realized a long time ago I was just going to get a BS answer. Evertime I'd ask I'd always get the same answer..."Three".
