How big can women get naturally??

I do build muscle easy, but just how much is possible with diet, exercise and protein shakes? Is there something else the pro bodybuilders use? I'm on a high protein low carb, low fat diet. Protein from chicken breast, fish all grilled and then my low carb protein shakes. I know I can define my muscles more by weight loss but I want to gain some size too!! But How??

How big each person gets is determined by genetics and training. But primarily genetics.

Females, unaided, will not get as big as men becasue we have about 1/10th the amount of testosterone. Testosterone is the primary muscle-building agent.

MOST PROFESSIONAL (and many non-pros) female bodybuilders, fitness competitors, even figure competitors use some form of AAS (Anabolic Androgenous Steroid - "steroids"). How much and what kind depends on their level, their goals, and their genetics. I consider it pretty safe to say, if you know their name, they do some form of AAS. If you see their pictures regularly in the magazines, they do some form of AAS. If they are an IFBB Pro, they are likely doing some form of AAS. NOT EVERYONE, but MOST.

AAS is how they build their muscle. It *is* possible to be natural and build muscle. It is just harder and takes MUCH longer. Sounds like you are on the right track with your diet. But it is going to take time...lots and lots of time.

I know a few girls who are completely natural but can get amazingly big. The one girl I'm thinking of has competed in Bodyrock, she's in her late 30s, has AMAZING genetics, but has been training & competing hella long.

It is definitely all about the base you are building on and long, intense & focused building.

daisy and others, i was wondering because this has always puzzled me, but really, just how long, and hard, would it be to just gain 1lb of muscle?

people always say it's so hard to gain real muscle, but....is it for those who have peaked and are 90% lean already, or for newbies who start out.

will the rate of muslce growth be affected?

Oh, it can happen....but those people are few and far between. And even with her amazing genetics comes years and years of training, dieting, dedication, and sacrifice. And then, even more years of training, dieting, dedication and sacrifice.

I wasn't trying to say that EVERYONE uses drugs, I know they don't and I know some people have the genetics to build without it. People definately can grow without them. If a person choses to use can depend greatly on their goals.

To build muscle and be defined? You can do that WITHOUT drugs. You just need a clean diet, good training program, rest, and long-term dedication. It takes TIME.

To compete? You might need drugs, you might not. Nobody can answer that Q except the individual.

IMHO carbs are essential for maximum muscle gains. Save the low carbs for cutting if you must do low carbs. Other than that, genetics will be the limiting factor to how much lean mass you can gain.

As a personal opinion I would say that someone like Nancy Andrews is improbably muscular and thick waisted for a natural competitor, but I can't rule out she has that one in 6 billion genetics. Pauline Norton has a very achieveable natural physique for a woman. I think every woman can be lean and muscular if it's important enough to her but it takes extraordinary hard work over many years or decades to get there for most of us, and even then you won't see the muscle if you don't do a competition diet to show it off.
