I've been having severe back pain since October when I hurt it on a failed 490 lb. deadlift. I had lifted 475 two weeks prior. It's the kind of pain that prevents me from sleeping unless I take a bunch of drugs. When I had my car accident two weeks ago, the trauma team at the ER did a CT scan. I had broken a transverse process which they said there was nothing they could do about it. But, they also found a herniated disc. I'm wondering if surgery might be an option. Has anyone else had surgery for this problem? While I'm already out of the gym for a while recovering from my other injuries from the accident, it would be nice to go ahead and have it done now.
