I personally experimented with HIIT for a week... injured my knee from all the running and I'm never that again... for me, nothing beats 45min @ 75 ~ 80% MHR. You do that 5-6 times a week and you WILL see the fat go away
Jenz-you rock! And she's ABSOLUTELY right. I started in jan 29th and as of today...have lost 23 lbs and almost 10% BF following along the lines of what she said. Diet, diet, diet, am cardio 6 days a week, lifting 5 nites a week. My results have kicked into overdrive.

You don't have to run to do HIIT -- you can run on a treadmill (easier on the knees at the treadmill will absorb the shock more than the ground) but you can also do HIIT on an elliptical, which won't stress your knees as much.
It is also common for knee problems to occur by doing too much too soon, when overweight or in the process of losing weight.
And actually I do very little traditional cardio & I've lost about 10 pounds since the beginning of the year. Still maintained my strength & have increased the weights on some of my lifts. So it is possible to lose bf w/o doing a TON of cardio -- which isn't good for you anyway.
But, what works for 1 person won't necessarily work for another. Experiment with 1 "program" for 4-6 weeks, stick with it, regroup & see where the results are. If they are not what you want -- change something.
