Whether or not the acts are unnatural is completely irrelevant to anything.

Whether or not they are degrading is in the mind of the person being "degraded." If they don't feel they are being abused in any way then they are not.

Nope , post #25 last part from the author of this thread introduces other members of the animal kingdom and associates "degradation" with nature. Therefore it is relevant since the author of the thread brought it into the discussion.

Furthermore , it is societal norms which determine whether one is or is not being degraded , if a child is being abused , often the child does not know it is being abused until and unless it realises that that behaviour is abnormal. Nature might tell the creature that it's being hurt in some way (pain is the most obvious signal) which is lo and behold against nature.

Arguments are weak when you try to justify how humans act and behave because other animals do it too. For example, when people say it is ok to demean sexual women by calling them "sluts" but it's ok for a man to be sexual and people justify that by pointing out that male animals go around spreading their seeds while the female is only there to bear the children, that's pretty weak. It's weak when you try to compare humans with other animals because we are more intelligent, have more complex thought processes than other animals. If people want to justify how society says it's ok for a man to be sexual but not a woman because of the way other animals act, then we should also be ok with incest and rape.

I never said degradation is associated with nature. I think that's purely a human idea. Other animals don't see a female having sex as degrading herself, only us "intelligent" humans do. It has to do with societal norms and culture. I agree with you on that most definitely. People make the generalization that women are less sexual than men because of the behaviors they see and they attribute this to hormones, animals, whatever. I think it's much deeper than that. Women have been told from day one that if you act too sexual you're a bad dirty person and no one will respect you. They internalize this thought as with other things they learn so it becomes hard for them to break away from it. Some feel guilty or dominated when they have any kind of sex, especially oral. They feel they need to love someone because sex without love means the man is using you. So women are always on the lookout so they don't get judged, ridiculed, abused, hurt, demeaned, etc. I'm not saying all women but alot do. Men label women as "sluts" and wonder why their partners can't be more aggressive in bed. Some men even feel that having their woman perform oral sex on them is somehow degrading to her so it affects their performance. Women's sexual sides are repressed and ignored throughout many cultures and even hated on. I just laugh when simple minded people attribute women acting less sexual to hormones.

I think you are right , that is why i raised my daughters to not think sex is bad or dirty , but also teach then to respect themselfs .
They didn't have the hangups that i did , when i first started dating. Now i think Sex is great, and i don't have any hangups any more. Thanks to a wonderfull husband.

Mystique , first of all let me start this by saying I am not a promiscuous man , personally I feel that sex is not something to be shared with just anyone (or even very many people). Now , I have been in my relative youth with some women who had far more partners than I and I promise you that I could draw a straight line between quantity of emotional issues and number of sexual partners. Prostitues are notorious intraveneous drug users , even where prostitution is entirely legal (The city of Utrecht in Holland is often quoted as being the place where it was most successful and even there these people are incredibly miserable).
Years ago when feminism reared its head , it preached that women could do just as men could , and in Ireland some women set out to do just that , drinking , partying and screwing as much as some male bon viveurs. Mary Kenny was one of those feminist writers and she continuously week upon week writes of the health problems suffered as a result of her earlier life.
Likewise I know a few men who screw around and even there , these people are untrustworthy , fickle and occassionally pathetic in their attempts to justify their existence.
You can deny nature all you like and preach about the dominance of societal power over natural urges and time and time again the emprical evidence that you are wrong will be laid bare before u. I agree that you dont have to have a lot of sex partners to enjoy sex. One daughter had one premarried sex partner , daughter #2
was virgin when she married #3 is not married but has has 2 partners one she was engaged to for 4 years , the other she is engaged to now. but they all tell me they enjoy sex and that is just part of life. Anything 2 people do together is natural as long as both agree. I have a very open relationship with my daughters we talk about every thing. even things i dont want to know. but , when they were young i told then i would tell them anything if they ask, and they ask a lot, and i told them a lot. On the other hand i learded about sex in school before they has sex ed.boy did I learn a lot of wrong things ,lol
