I think there is a very wise saying by Alwyn Cosgrove (he's only said a handful though): It doesn't matter what coulda shoulda woulda happened all that matters is what actually did happen.

So I think you should step away from what you "think" you could have pulled and instead focus on what really went down.

Having said that, I'd like to know: why don't you use chalk? Do you not have access to chalk?

I forgot my chalk bag. My grip is usually really solid, so I have never even needed chalk. But with this tendon thing my grip keeps slipping. And like I said it's holding me back, I know I can pull a lot more (but now my gym is maxed out on weigh too, so I'll have to go to another gym). So far I'm going to ice it a few times today. We'll see about pullups on monday.....

All that grip training can hurt the tendon. This is what I was talking about a few pages back....It is extremely easy to overwork your grip. It adds to injuries like this one. Rest it and don't do anything which might aggravate it.

That's the thing though: I haven't been doing grip training for the last month or so. I was doing training with the heavy grips 150 and 250, doing band extention training and all that, but now I haven't done anything in a while. Except yesterday, I did a little. So yeah I will try to lay off anything that hurts.

yeah but didn't we just discuss the one arm deadlifts? That also adds to the grip training because I am assuming those deads were difficult.

Yeah but I didn't do 1 armed deads this week and last week all I did was a 1rm with straps (got 275:))

Hey bro, back in highschool I was obsessed with grip training and did this thing called KTA. It's basically high intensity, high volume using grippers. I was determined to finish it but it lead my hands aching wayy too much. I couldn't shake a person's hand without excruciating pain in my tendons. I laid off and it went away, but I did these things called 'contrast baths' as well. They seemed to help me...maybe give them a try. Here's an explanation of them from gripfaq.com

Contrast Baths
Hand health technique that involves soaking the hands in alternating buckets of hot and cold water. Start with hot, finish with cold. 2.5 gallon buckets are often used. The hot bucket should be around 110 degrees fahrenheit. The cold bucket should be around 55 degrees fahrenheit. Typically hands are soaked for 90 seconds in each bucket, alternating buckets for 3 cycles. Contrast baths dramatically reduce recovery time after a hard grip workout.

Active recovery with dexterity balls might help you too.

with straps........ if you are going to quote something quote the whole sentence. When I do it with straps it is not a grip exercise.......

Not as much as without straps but yes it is still grip work. You are using the most amount of weight you can possibly manage even for just 1 rep and you are gripping a bar that due to the straps is thicker than usual. Besides straps don't completely take your grip out of the equation, they don't do all the work of hanging onto the weight...

Thanks good suggestions! It's not really an aching thing though, it is more of pain like an inflamed tendon. I'll try the contrast baths though. I've been icing, so hopefully that will help. Every time I think it is gone though I do deadlifts and it starts hurting again.

lol, imagine that stress on your wrists if they didn't...

Okay but a few pages back you said that "1 handed deads are a grip exercise unless you use straps, which kind of defeats the purpose of them." Have you ever done handed deads? Trust me they are not that strenuous at all, because the weight is so light and your whole body is really supporting it. Anyway, 1rm's require hardly any grip strength compared to 5 rep sets.

yeah it does kind of defeat the object because it takes alot of your grip out of it, when one handed deads are usually a test of grip strength. It doesnt completely take your grip out of the equation though.

Wasnt tryin to get in an arguement man I was just saying be careful even with straps especially if yuor already injured they could make it worse

Yeah don't worry I was just having a little fun :) Yeah I do need to be careful because every time it is just starting to get better I injure it again on deadlift day:( But the thing is the straps helped a lot when I used them, it felt like it took a lot of the weight off my hurt finger, so if I do any pulling movements I will use them (if I do pulling movements at all)

Good workout, lots of good pr's. Do you guys think I should switch the supersetted explosive pushups to the explosive bench set? I'm thinking that makes more sense. Run was done at a really slow 8 minute mile pace, but it was still kind of hard because my heart rate was already so high from the weights.

I love reverse curls!

Yeah I liked them a lot too. I had them in my routine but wasn't going to do them, but I've noticed my wrists have actually gained a lot of size since I started working out and I want them to gain some more size. I might do some wrist curls too. I also added them because my wrists have been taking a beating catching the weight after split jerks, and I want to strengthen them up some more

Comments: Decided to start with 8 reps of 270 and progress till I stall in that for squats. One problem though: I think the belt has been teaching me bad form on squats, I noticed my back rounded a good deal on some reps. Afterwards I had a slight pain, muscle related in my low back. Went away, but still I need to be careful. I 'm really happy with 1 handed snatches, they went great today:) 95 is a pretty good 1 handed barbell snatch in my opinion. However 2 handed ones aren't going well, I get the form much easier with 1 handed ones lol! I need to bring chalk next time though, my grip was slipping I was pulling it so fast and that would be gnarly if a loaded 95 lb bb went flying out of my hands! I tried pendlay rows, and loved them! I'm going to do them from now on, thanks em, I wouldn't have done them if it wasn't for you talking about them:)

lol no probs, not sure if Iv already shown it you or not but I got an article with some words from Glenn Pendlay (the creator) in it if your interested, its a good one to learn how to do them...

Comments:
Great workout! Bench went great, and I tried military benching for the first time and surprised myself. I got 235x1 for a paused rep, and could have gotten more but I didn't have a spotter and definitely didn't want to risk getting caught under 200+ pounds with my legs in the air lol!
On the good side of things that means I could probably paused bench 255 in competition with my legs on the ground, on the bad side of things that means I may not be getting much leg drive in regular benching (but then again that means my upper body is doing lots of work which is good-----lol!) front squats were just killing my wrist so I stopped after the second set.

Here is a video of military bench just in case you guys don't know what it is:
YouTube - sotilaspenkki 180 kg - military benchpress

I used that length of pause....so my question for you em, since you have done a powerlifting bench meet:
Was that pause long enough to be considered legit for a powerlifting meet?

Dude....thats a simple paused bench press with your feet off the floor. It's not a military whatever lol.... Such fancy names for a simple paused bench.

EM will probably attest to this but different feds have different rules. Read up on what your particular fed says about the pause on the bench press. I am almost definitely sure on this but EM will know better that most feds want a 2 second pause.

Lol it is definitely called a military bench press, there are like 50 videos of people doing them on youtube. Apparantly they have lots of "military bench press" competitions, it seems much more common in other countries though, the second video is a finnish competition:

Here is a video of a guy doing 530 :eek2:
YouTube - Military bench press 240,5kg

And a national military bench competition:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sjM7djYvrI

I was looking at this website:
Virtualmeet.net: Home

And they had a military bench competition, that's how I found out what it is:
Virtualmeet.net: March 19-21, 2010 Military Bench meet

Pretty cool, I might have to compete in one of these online meets for the hell of it lol!

EM, you should compete in one too!

Tblock I would get battered in one of those competitions, my strength sucks for my bodyweight...

About the pause, when I competed the pause was between 1 and 2 seconds

what does military bench even do? i can see it putting more stress on the upperbody and working your core. seems good
something like that. I do think that keeping your legs up like that can lead to an injury if you go balls to the wall with the weight and it tilts while coming up though.

Seemed like a great exercise to my but I started a thread in this forum and everyone started trashing it lol, doesn't make any sense to me, how can it not be safe if you have a spotter? The only thing bad I can see it doing is stressing your shoulders more than usual. Gladiator if you ever get a chance on one of your bench days would you try military bench for me, no pause but a strict press with legs crossed over each other in the air? I'm dying to know what people's bench press with leg drive is compared to this exercise lol!!!!

3x8x85 PR I guess

Comments: Good workout, but split jerk went bad because my legs were still hurting from these really bad shin splints I got running on Thuursday. My upperbody was fine but at the start if the jerk every time I dipped down my legs hurt so I couldn't get enough force:( On the good side, I used straps and wrapped them really tight, and it helped my wrists a lot which were killing me after sets of this. CGBP is going really well, I'm 5 pounds aboe bodyweight for 3x6  Couldn't finish the last set of db press with good form, will go for 3x7 nest week. Also, I was really worried about dropping the bar during heavy sets of curls so I did my curls in the squat rack, it was awesome and I felt really safe because I knew if I messed up I had the rack to protect me:D

Good shit with the close grips...

Of course, all the biggest and toughest guys curl in the squat rack...why else would there be a squat rack?? Tomorrow I might just load a bar across my back and walk over to the section of the gym labeled "Arms" and start squatting, then dump the weight on the floor so some douche bag won't be able to access the floow length mirror...

are you fucking shitting me

Nope!!!! At my gym there is only one rack period, and only 1 straight bar. It was only me and a friend working out there so I did my curls on the straight bar, and yes after each set I racked that shit up for safety purposes. Do you realize the injuries you could get if you dropped a loaded barbell which you were using for curling on your feet? Bro it could be catastrophic. If you notice I didn't deadlift this week either, I decided to stop deadlifting because of all the injuries it could cause. Additionally, I am not going to squat tomorrow and took out all the compound movements from my routine starting now. I plan on wearing workout gloves too, and making sure to wear a pink headband because it would be really gross if I sweated without a headband. I'm also going to wear a really cool tank top to show off my huge biceps from all the curling I will be doing.

lweaver: Bro don't dump your weight in front of the mirror do you realize how much we arm workers need our mirror without it we wouldn't come to workout!

tblock im sorry please dont hurt me :lmao:
Do your squats and drink your milk and I might have mercy on your pitiful self:D

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

On a funny side though, there is a guy in my gym that only works arms and abs. On his hardest set of biceps curls he literally, I mean literally screams at the top of his lungs in agony!!! All I can think is "Bro, if you are gonna scream, at least be doing some deadlifts or squats lol!!!"

I dunno. I'm the exact opposite.

I hardly eat any food...Weighing at 195 lbs I should be consuming around 2650 just to maintain (using Lyle's and Leigh's calculators) and I barely get 1500 and yet I just stay the way I am. I think my metabolism is shot to shit though. I know that if I ever told nutrition specialists like Alan Aragon about my diet they'd think it was a miracle I am still able to move around. I am pushing my luck though....Thats why I've started eating right finally. But, due to so much abuse it'll be a while before a true effect takes place.

Sorry to go off topic...I was just commenting on how we're all so different.

But that is the thing I don't get with you: you keep mentioning how I don't have much muscle mass but my arms are bigger than you, our legs are around the same, and my back and shoulders are bigger than you from looking at your pics. I just don't get it.....

I had a great workout last night, will post it up later. I 1 hand deadlifted 305 with my left hand:) In mathematical terms, that looks like

Tblock1: 1 handed deadlift left arm>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>jdid's 2 handed deadlift

:D:D:D

lol @ in mathematical terms.

Also, I am not going to be maxing on deads for the next 2 months, so no shit you can deadlift more than me; once i max i will be way ahead of your 1 arm :)

Btw, did you use straps? Can you video it next time? I'd love to see it to be honest :)

No prob:) Like 10 guys from my neighborhood that I have known forever were down there and they wanted to see my 1 handed deadlift max, so one of the guys challenged me. We did 135, 205, 255, 285, then 305. He had never deadlifted in his life and weighed 6 foot 4 190-192, and he pulled 285 one handed :eek2: I actually could have pulled like 315 or more, when I did 285 the bar got way off balance but with 305 and my left hand I got it clean and fairly easy. And yeah I used a strap. Anyway I challenged that guy to do some 2 handed deadlifts, I let him use straps and a belt, but he got to 360 without much difficulty:eek2: I've always considered him a strong guy but that is super strong for your first time deadlifting:artist:

Nope, no way you will be ahead of my 1 handed max bro:D Anyway yeah I really want to make a video of them, they are one of my favorite lifts. I have to watch them though because I think they may be what hurt my right finger tendon. So maybe I will only do left handed ones for a while, although I am worried about an imbalance. I want to do them without straps too to build my grip, doing 315 one handed with no straps would be gnarly grip strength

I meant you dont seem to be getting any bigger, and wondered why cause I couldnt see a flaw in your training/nutrition. I didnt mean it as a criticism.

Post pics of said shoulders and back

Alright cool:) My flaw right no is not in training, that's going great. My flaw is diet right now, since that stomach flu i had a few weeks ago I havent been able to eat a ton. In addition, I was on break all last week+ so getting up late is good but only getting 3 meals a day is bad. I have definitely gained size since the beginning of my routine, I think i have lost a couple pounds fat while gaining a little mscle, because I have definitely gotten a little bigger. The problem is I don't want ot get much bigger, because thta makes running much harder.

that is true but I hope you know eventually if you wanna be the best soldier you can then your lifting will have to take a back seat for conditioning/endurance type training...

Yep especially in the units I want to go in, running is top priority. I have been running 2 miles once, 3 miles once, and 5 mile once every week. However I got horrible shin splints last week from trying to hold too fast a pace on the 5 miler. My main issue right now is pushup and situp endurance, I am not working that enough.

my opinion would be to really simplify your training and use mainly bodyweight exercises. You could do the big 4 lifts, and use bodyweight exercises as assistance:

Assistance to military and bench: dips, pullups, pushups, handstand pushups
Assistance to squat and deadlift: back extensions, natural GHR, walking lunges, box jumps

then hit bodyweight ab work - situp variations, hanging leg raises, planks

if I were you I would do somethng like this

Deadlift
Box Jump
Back extension

Military
Handstand Pushups
Dips

Squat
Natural GHR
Walking Lunge

Bench
Chins
Pushups

and abs whenever you like

you should try some hill sprints too

Bro I really like that routine that is good stuff! I am really enjoying the routine I am on right now though, so I will probably stick with that. However I still have not decided whether I am going to do the college and rotc route or enlist. If I do college and rotc I have 4 years where I could keep lifting and do whatever, as they make you do morning pt 3 days a week anyway. If I enlist though I will have to switch to something like that or probably a pt program with only pushups, situps, flutterkicks, pullups, and running.

One guy challenged me, and he got to 285 1 handed his first time deadlifting:eek2: I pushed myself super hard cause I sure as hell didn't want to get beaten by him, could have gotten 315. The I continued the contest and did a few 2 handed deadlifts, pretty easy. Pullups went great, however that is definitely my max and I am going to have to progress slower now. Pendlay rows were fun, going to do like 3x8x175 next week. And for you jdid I will video 1 handed deadlifts next time. You have a right to see me destroying your 2 handed deadlift pr with one hand;)

I don't know about 1 hand deads but I actually would love to have a rep challenge with jdid like who can do the most
squats @ 185
deads @ 225
bench @ 135
chins @ bw

would be fun and crazy, high rep squatting is hell!

Damn that would be awesome, it could be one big youtube video from you and one from him, you guys could do a call out thread in the forum and have people vote on who won, or you could just do it by points. Arrg I am excited for this now that would be amazingly fun to watch you guys go at it lol! My guess is EM you would win squats , deads, and bench, jdid would win chins. You guys should think of one more exercise to add to it so it would be 5. Jdid: Just borrow someone's camera lol I want to see this contest now ....:chomp::biggrin::evil:

lol...

EM would win bench hands down, probably squats, and probably deads and chins.

Having said that, i would be up for it if it was on the honor code. Or i can see if someone can get a video and do it. I would definitely be up for the challenge on deads though- i think that would be our closest one.

Jdid you got em on chins for sure I think, didn't you just get 10 today? As long as they are deadhang you will have em for sure, there is no way he could get 10 at 205 (no offense em lol). A 225 rep out on deads would be intense though, I'm curious to see what EM's best 135 rep out is too:) Don't worry about the competition part, it will be super fun whichever one of you wins it (that sounds kind of lame huh?) Just get someone to video you and post it on a youtube account.

5th lift would be overhead from the floor, basically getting the weight to locked out overhead by any means neccassary, so you could use a power clean, continental clean, snatch - whatever, then you can get it overhead by any means - push press, split jerk etc so it would be like what is used in the 6000lb challenge

jdid I was thinking close neutral chins or underhand, what do you think?

I was actually thinking of making a callout thread lol.

who wants a competition with me? Or is this all natty lolol

a good competition would be you vs saibot  but saibots very busy now with his new gym and PT business so I doubt it would happen :(

I predict you would win chins, I would win bench. Deads and squats would both be close and I have no idea for overhead...

If you can get a camera Ill make a thread and put all the rules in. What do you think to belt and wrist wraps?

This will be badass!!!! Jdid just tell me if you have a camera that you could use or borrow or when you will be able to get one and Ill make a thread...

By the way, Jdid, Im not trying to prove myself against you, or trying to make you feel small or weak, or trying to show that Im better than you, I dont want you to take this the wrong way. I just thought we are close in strengths at the moment, you will beat me on chins I may beat you on bench but the rest will be close so I thought it would be fun...

I would love to see andalite vs gladiator on deadlifts to be honest. Whoever can do the most reps at 365- that would be crazyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I would be fine w/ a clean and jerk contest and neutral grip sounds good.

Also, if i got a video recorder i would do it in a heartbeat. I'll ask a friend if i go to the gym with him next time to bring a camera (hopefully he has one). Or maybe i can try to get someone to open the weight room 9th period at school so i can do it w/out any distractions.

Deads/Squats would be pretty close- you would win bench with no effort though. How about we each bench our bodyweight to make it more interesting? You would probably still win that since i only got 160x3x3 and that was hard and could only manage 165x2 on my own the workout after.

You said we were keeping our bodyweight out of this!

Ask yuor friend if you could borrow it some time, and if he says yes then we will arrange a date and Ill make a thread.

What do you think to belt and wrist wraps?

I think no.

The reason i said BW for bench press is because you will undeniably beat me in that 1000%.

Ok so no belt no wraps?

I was thinking:
225 for deads
135 for bench
110 for overhead
bodyweight close neutral for chins
175 or 185 for squats?

Let me know about the camera...

i am sorry if it sounds like pussying out but your bench is undoubtedly better than mine so that's a freebie and overhead press might be too.

How about

Deadlifts @ 225
Squats @ 185
Neutral Chins @ BW

or if you're confident enough, i will just do a deadlift-off vs you.

Just do deadlifts and squats. You guys should already know how many pullups u can do

nope not done close neutral chins for a long while

jdid my pressing endurance sucks. You will own be on chins too but I still would give it a go...

and I think the overhead may be quite close too Im not that far ahead of you on stict military and your probably better at cleans than me...

who wants a competition with me? Or is this all natty lolol

Negro it is on I will crush you:evil::evil::evil:

JK lol!

EM: I think glad would destroy saibot on bench and deads. Saibot would win chinups I think, not sure about squats.

Honestly yes this is supposed to be a competition, but seriously who cares about winning and losing an online competition like this, it will just be a fun thing to do.:) Maybe gladiator and andalite and me should get in on a comp too, you guys could have your own competition though.

Dude im down, it will help us all keep track of our progress and push eachother with our goals. I wanna be part of this. Tblock I weigh 195 so we are the same weight  I would want to do

225 deads
185 bench
135 military
225 squat
135 hang clean

all to failure. You down tblock?

Fuck I was hoping you were still heavier so I could use that as an excuse lol! Ya I am down for sure, except for the hang clean. Sorry but I just can't do those I suck lol! And for military could we do it in front?

4/14/10 Wednesday

Bench
1x8x135
1x5x165
1x2x205
3x3x230 PR (Rest: 1:30, 2:00, 2:15)

High pulls
5x2x205 PR (1:00 rest between sets)

DB low incline
3x7xheaviest db PR (2:00 rest between sets)

BB pullovers
3x8x95 PR (1st time doing these heavy)

Comments: Fun workout and really short. Skipped front squats because I still had really bad doms in my legs. Must have been from squats monday. Bench was actually pretty easy, the only rep I had trouble with was the last rep of the 3rd set, it was a tiny bit hard to lockout. I'm hoping to get to 3x3x240, that would be huge gains from 240x2. I stalled on bb skullcrushers, so I switched to bb pullovers.

Pretty soon, I'll either do each part of the challenge on the normal days I do that lift, or I will take a seperate day to do it.

Do you guys just want to start and overall challenge thread, or do you want to do glad vs tblock and jdid vs em as seperate threads? If so I could start the thread for me right now and then we could decide on the rules and post the videos up.

BTW, jdid I know the reason you are calling me Tcock is because you know I could destroy you in a penis pushup challenge, that will be our next contest.:D

separate threads are fine imo. To be honest, with the way my training is going now i don't think i want to have a comp. I like everything that i am doing and don't think i am at the stage in 5/3/1 where i can take a week or even a session off to do hard deads and squats for hella high reps.

BTW, TCock- I know the reason you said that is cuz you want to see a vid of me doing cock pushups.

Dude come on you cant take 1 day to just do max reps, you act like ur gonna fuck ur whole training program up. What ever happened to lift hard and heavy?

jdid is this just because I wont go easy on you and do bodyweight bench? Because before you sounded pretty happy about it. Why not just do it the day or couple of days before your planned deload week? That way you have a weeks worth of deload workouts to follow and aid in recovery...

Tblock Ill include you and gladiator in the thread I make in the next day or couple of days depending on jdid's response...

lol that's not why at all. I am not afraid of losing and could give 2 shits if you beat me on benching 135 or deadlifting 225 or squatting 185. I was thinking about doing that, but i am still not sure if i'd want to do it this early into my 5/3/1 since i am going balls to the wall each workout, i want to be fresh.

I'll tell you what; If this doesn't work out, I will try my ass off to get a camera the week i go for my 1RMs and we can have a 1RM contest if you'd like. Right now, hitting good 1RMs means more to me than the competition and i think that sticking with the program i am currently doing will be the best way to get there.

Ok, we'll have to hold it off for a few months I guess then. Besides I wasnt really looking forward to puking from squatting 185x25 ;)

only 25 reps???????:confused::confused::confused:

Hey gladiator I have a change to make to our challenge:

Instead of 225 for deadlift rep out, let's do 315. Also would you be interested in a 1 handed deadlift max and a weighted pullups 3 rep max?

I'll start the thread

Gladiator vs Tblock soon

Yeah 1 handed with strap. Yeah for pullups your chin has to go over the bar and your arms have to lockout on the bottom so it's deadhang. We could do a 225 bench rep out, except I'd get like 6 or 7 lol not much of a rep out;)

Do you want me to start the thread right now for the challenge?

EDIT: Also what would you think about using straps for 2 handed deadlifts, it's just that on a rep out like this I don't want to be worrying about grip strength and once we get past 10 reps it will be hard. I'm going to be doing the deadlift part today, so I will video it and post up a video. I will video the contest in sections, so Monday will be squats and pullups, etc.

gripping the bar is part of the exercise bro if you can't grip it anymore then that's it your done, just because your forearms have given out before your back or legs doesn't make a differance, your only as strong as your weakest link...

I know but the main reason I want to use straps is because it takes a lot of the focus off my tendons onto my wrists, and my right ring finger tendon is injured and I want it to heal. My right hand grip strength has been crap because of this injury.

Saturday 4/17/10

Deadlift
1x8x135
1x5x205
1x3x255

10 minute rest

drumroll.....

1x15x315 PR (chalk + belt)

Military press
1x9x135 PR

cgbp
3x6x200 PR

seated db pres (skipped because of military press rep out)

db rotators
1x10x45 PR (right arm)
1x6x45 (left arm)

barbell curls (in the squat rack for safety purposes)
2x8x90 PR (2nd set not as strict)

Going to start the comp thread in a minute, then upload the videos I took.:p

I got a video of my close grip bench presses, so here it is:

3x6x200 cgbp

I used a fairly wide close grip but it feels good there and my index fingers are right on the smooth part, which is where I always do it. I think I am going to use a little closer grip from now on though, like maybe 1-2 inches per side closer. The cool thing is it feels the same difficulty as 3x6x185 did, so I have gained a lot of strength:)

good job on cgbp. you definitely coulda gotten more reps than that, but i see why you didn't without a spotter.

Yeah but I'm not going to failure on hardly any of my lifts and it is working much better for strength, I can't believe how much better it feels:cool:

Thanks andalite!

have you ever thought of concentrating on the negative portions of reps more?

your arms look bigger in the CGBP video than they have in others too good job...

No I actually haven't thought of that. But my main goal is strength so I don't think it would matter as much for me. Thanks for the compliment about the arms:) But bro they looked way bigger when I was curling in the squat rack, I was going to take a video but was worried of the shit storm I would get so I didn't:D

just pick that shit up from the floor

Bro that is dangerous to curl without a rack in front of you. One question for you though: Do you use a closer grip than I use in the video? Not for competitive purposes, I just want to know what grip everyone else uses.

Nice presses dude...

Your grip is shoulder width...a general rule for me is that CGBP is narrower than shoulder width. Your CGBP grip width is about the same as my grip width for a standard bench press. If you take a generally wide grip while doing standard bench presses, its understandable that your CGBP grip would be narrower than expected. Your CGBP is close grip in relation to your standard bench press, but in essence doesnt seem like a CGBP but more of a deviated grip standard bench press. Anyway I would go a few inches narrower if you're looking to hit the triceps a little more. Most people take an excessively narrow grip so its good that you're avoiding that.
