Fasting

I have recently started the IF (intermittent fasting) lifestyle and really like how the diet is set up. One of the concerns i have is early morning cardio and lifting. I typically do 30 minutes of inclined treadmill work and my heart rate stays at about 185.

I take 10g BCAA's with some other supplements before workout and after workout. Depending on the day i either have a protein/carb shake post workout or i continue to fast after cardio/workout for another 4-6 hours depending on my eating schedule for IF.

My question : Will working out after 12 + hours of fasting and keeping my heart rate in the 180s, kill my LBM? Should i just do cardio on an empty stomach and lift later that day after i have eaten and are able to eat again?k

I was told that taking 10g BCAA's before and after the workout until i can get a meal in should keep my body in an anti-catabolic state.

Thoughts please?

Fasting is actually very good for the body. It flushes all of our impurities out our system. Allowing our metabolism and thyroid to actually function normal. However, the length of time u fast is very important. Going over two weeks is kinda pushing it. Make sure during fasting that u r taking all natural vitamins, amino and protein supplement. My husband and I r in the gym 6 days a week faithfully. The man can move a house!! He's prob 12% bf and is huge!! No roids!! We both fast twice a year and have never suffered from muscle loss! The results are awesome and u get rid of toxins and waste in ur small and large intestines. It's a natural thing to do.. Go for it !!!!

I've been reading about fasting recently and it seems likes it is catching on for some reason. The only person that can give you good advice is someone who is doing the exact same fast schedule/diet you are on. I "fast" from 7:30pm to 8:00am every day....aka I finish my last meal at 7:30 and workout in the morning on an empty stomach, then chug a protein shake at 8:00am. I've lost weight and gained muscle this way but I was also moderately out of shape when I started about 1.5 years ago. I eat around 2,200 cals/day at least 200g protein. 6'3 220.

I've hit a plateau recently (strength wise) so I will probably be changing shit up shortly.

Have fun losing muscle bro!

Bad post

In the six months I followed an IF "lifestyle" I gained lbm, strength, and got ripped all at te same time. This was without aas btw.

It might not be for everyone, but losing muscle should not be a concern if you are consuming an appropriate amount of kcal in your feeding window. Do some research before making claims/statements you can not back up.

How much weight are you trying to lose? Can you post up some stats?

I would lower the intensity on the fasted cardio. Keep your hr under 140.

On days you do not eat directly after training consume 10g of bcaas in 1.5-2 hour intervals pwo before breaking your fast.
