Extreme weight loss

Welcome to the site non noneifit! I'm sor glad you are here with us. I can hear your desperation and I understand how difficult it is. I first would suggest backing up a bit and taking a breath. I feel like you are trying to do way too much at one time. I see so many people say "I'm going to start this and that today" and it is this whole complicated program. It lasts about a week. These ladies have given you such good advice. I think it would be wise for you to sit down and write out what your goals are and why you want to obtain them. NOt the superficial reasons (I want to look thin) - but what is the real reason? You want to feel better naked? You want to have more energy? You want to feel comfortable in your skin? Try to be as specific as possible. Then, take the basics of a good diet as Thandie has so well laid out and start incorporating one thing at a time. Keep your workouts as is. In about a month - if you are persistant - you should be able to look at your diet and be proud of what you have accomplished and changed for the better. (by healthy I mean eating enough whole quality foods, but not too much). Once you have the nutrition down, then we can focus on your workouts. RIght now, you do what you feel is best for you and something you enjoy.

Regarding Clen, I suggest that you stay away from any type of thermogenic. You will absolutely lose some water weight the first two weeks or so but that is it. You would have to follow an EXTREME calorie deficit and feel absolutely miserable in order for products like that to take effect at your weight - not to mention the harmful side effects that so many can have. If you are wanting to feel better then it would be counter productive to take such products (trust me :-)

Now, I do hear your desperation and I can tell you are going to do something no matter what we say. That is OK. I'm stubborn too! Again, I would suggest nothing at this point but what I mentioned above with taking progressive steps in your diet. However, if you want to give something a try I recommend purchasing a product called LipoFlame sold by agxsports.com - you take the product about 30 minutes prior to working out and it will give you the extra boost to spice up your workouts. Meaning you'll be burining more fat. You are doing the work (it isn't magic) but the supplement is assisting and making the most out of your time. If this is something you decide to do I'd be glad to help you with dosage (no, I don't work for them ;-) but I know the owner very well and have used all of his products successfully and safely. His site is geared towards men so don't be turned off. The dosage on the package is geared towards men as well so please work with me on the dosage.

I'm so glad you are hear. I hope you chose the healthy route - I think you feel amazing on your journey and can be so proud that YOU are doing it. I'm with you on this one.

Be good....

Thank you for all of your advice. I've decided I'm not going to take clebuterol. I'm really happy that I joined this site because I was obviously misinformed. I don't want to harm my body and even though I have to work hard at it, I'm trying to stay motivated.

Another problem is that I keep weighing myself. On Monday when I weighed myself I was 185, then I went down to 180, now I'm at 176.4. My trainer said it's water weight but it still feels like I'm doing something right.

I want to get stronger, I feel so weak when I do weights and it sucks, but I was told that I have to do light weights. I just want to be more energetic so that I can walk up the stairs without feeling like I'm going to pass out.

Also, my trainer said that I can try taking JUST a caffine pill before my work outs to give me more energy, and CLA with every meal. Is that okay?

^^^ What they all said. :)

Let me guess where you got the "detox information" from? The clerk at the health food store where you bought it?

We are still waiting what it is exactly that you NEED to "detoxify" your body from? I mean, have you been eating your meals from a can with wet lead paint? The whole "detox" thing is hogwash... utter bunk. Unless you are seriously ill (ie lead poisoning or some such) the way to "detox" your body is to: not smoke, and not drink alcoholic beverages, eliminate all the chemically processed, sugar-filled, additive-filled "foods" from your diet and you will feel better within a few days. I promise you. Once you straighten your diet out, eat enough of GOOD FOOD to fuel and feed your body you will have abundantly more energy because the spikes and subsequent crashes in your bloodsuger will be virtually eliminated.

There are many examples of basic diet guidelines/examples of meal plans on this forum. Take a cruise around and let us know what you come up with. :)

PS - this is BIKINIMOM masquerading as my husband. *giggle* (He's trying to fix my laptop email.)

Hi bikinimom,

I honestly have no idea what I'mtrying to detoxify. I'm new to this so any advice that someone gives me, I try. Simply because I have no knowledge, but I want to learn. Rather than starting a diet that I can't maintain, I want to live a healthier lifestyle. I do enjoy working out, so I'm trying to find different ways of doing so. I'm just still a bit blah about a meal plan, but I'm going to take your advice and look on here.

Thanks for the help!

This might sound odd, but there is one good thing about being 280 lbs, that is, you can make almost any minor adjustment to your diet and start loosing weight. On the other extreme, if you throw the kitchen sink at this problem, you will fuck things up fast!

Listen to these girls, make the diet and training adjustments they recommend. Save clen/eca/etc for when you are 150 lbs and trying to reach 130. That's when you need it. That may seem like eons away. Just stay in the present moment and focus on the current meal ahead of you. Implement the advice these girls are giving and maintain this mindset. Think too far ahead and you will overwhelm yourself, try too many changes at once and you will overwhelm yourself. Focus only on the now and you will maintain the steady pace needed to reach your goals.

Best of luck. We are all behind you!

EXCELLENT!

I never spoon feed information to anyone because I feel that this is doing them a disservice. I will point a body in the right direction and help them to find THEIR OWN answers. IMHO this will help TEACH THAT BODY TO FIGURE THINGS OUT AT THEIR OWN PACE. <---- I have found that this approach is most helpfull to every individual as they can go at their own pace. You are competing against you so YOU CANT LOSE. :)

You've already learned that the whole *detox* thing is utter bunk and MOST PEOPLE that work in such stores (and even in gyms, online) are more interested in selling you a product than about giving you accurate information. These people aren't necessarily unscrupulous. They may not know the answer to the questions you are asking but still feel obligated to answer because they *work there*. As you put more time and effort into understanding how the human body (specifically YOUR body) works you will eventually know enough to know when something *just doesn't sound right*. The internet in general and elite specifically has a whole pool of very knowledgable people who are more than willing (when they have the time) to steer you in the right direction.

There is no ONE person who *knows it all*. Additionally even though the basics of human physiology and biology are constant every BODY's BODY reacts just a wee bit differently to every stimuli be that exercise, diet or supplement. My goal is to try and help people to learn and help THEMSELVES.

^^^ Which is not very good salesmenship for a personal trainer. For them the goal is to make their clients FOREVER dependent on their services. I've always felt that this approach cheated the client to a certain extent. Unless a client told me pointblank, "I don't CARE to learn this stuff. That is why I am paying you." Then I was like, "OK we have a clear understanding. Where there is a clear understanding there can be no MISunderstanding."

I stopped personal training eons ago but on occasion I still help out a bit here and there on the boards.

I want for you to learn as much as you humanly possibly can so that you can make a LIFE CHANGE, not just fit into a smaller size of jeans. This means there will be a lot of trial and error and many times where you will feel like giving up. The most important thing is that you remain consistent in your efforts as this WILL give you success over the long haul. You didn't become overweight in a week or two months. I know that this will be little consolation when you feel like you've been busting your butt and you don't FEEL like you've made progress. There are many MANY ways to guage progress. The scale IMHO is THE LEAST ACCURATE AND/OR PRODUCTIVE MEASURE OF PROGRESS!!!

Use the tape measure, how your clothing fits and most importantly HOW YOU FEEL to guage progress.

Promise me this.

Thanks for all of your advice, feels like I'm already learning a lot! This site is the best! lol

I'll start by saying, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to be posting in, but it's the only one I came across so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm morbidly obese and I have been trying to change that for a while now, but it's really difficult.

I am 5'3 and approx. 280 lbs and I would like to lose weight. I work out everyday, and I recently got a trainer who put me on a work out plan.

Basically started me off with 5-10 minute warm up, light weights, then 20-25 minutes cardio on the treadmill. Is this effective or should I be doing more cardio?

I'm also doing a 7 day detox, but it's my first day so I'm not sure how effective it is. I understand it's not designed for weight loss only, but I was advised to do a full body detox as it helps get rid of toxins.

Someone recommended Clenbuterol, would this help me? The person seems to be convinced that if I keep eating healthy, and work out, i'll continue to lose weight when I'm off it.

At this point, I'll try anything.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
I am already soooo excited for you.
You are about to make some amazing changes for your health and quality of life.
We have many, MANY people here ALL happy to offer you the help and advice you need. Plus, the ladies here are REAL people- all with their own unique stories. If you take some time and browse around, there are so many success stories to be found. Plus, we ALL need support at one time or another. Just come here. There is no such thing a stupid question. We all must start somewhere and being new to something like this can have some frustrating, challenging moments. We have all been there.
Some days are not going to be perfect. If you skip a workout or eat something naughty, don't beat yourself up over it. If you fall, just dust yourself off and get back up. This all takes practice, trial and error.
PUT THE SCALE AWAY. It will not give you a very realistic picture about what is going on with your body. At first, your weight might be all over the place from day to day. Your body is going through some new adjustments and the scale will just set you up to feel discouraged. If you feel like you NEED to use the scale: Pick a certain time and day once every week or two and ONLY weight yourself at that time. Then, try to go a month.
You will be so busy with your new eating and workouts, the time will just fly by and the weight will go faster than you imagine.
Stay away from any special dieting stores where people will try to sell you a bunch of junk that you REALLY don't need. Being healthy does not need to be expensive. You need food (YES! Your calories listed are not even close to what you need! Your body can't burn fat without fuel). You need water. You need excercise, sleep and support. Anything else is just junk being sold by people trying to make a profit.
The ladies here are not trying to sell ANYTHING, so you can find comfort in knowing their advice is only given to help you get to where you wanna be.
Feel free to ask any of us any question that pops into your head. If someone doesn't know the answer, we will direct you to a person that will either know the answer or know how to find the answer.
Another thing, if you are just having a bad day, feel free to vent.
You might want to look at some of the logs posted by other ladies. If you get into the habit of posting what you are eating, it will help you stay on track.
Good luck!

Hi Iggy :)

So far my diet has been pretty much the same since last week.

I have been having 2 egg whites and vegetables for breakfast, but today I used egg beaters instead. lol

At lunch I have a salad and chicken or tuna.

At dinner it's usually grilled vegetables and chicken or fish. I'm going to have turkey instead though tonight.

For snacks, I have cucumber, celery, strawberries, or an apple.

I drink 5-6 litres of water a day and I have 1-2 green teas.

I'm staying away from sodas, even diet, and all types of juices. Not even using sweetener.

I'm not sure what else I can do lol
