I am paranoid about losing muscle so I wanted to post how my cutting diet has been going so far, and looking for some evals:

I have been cutting for 3 weeks: restricting cals slightly under maintainance, high protein:moderate dose of carbs (low gi):moderate fats (efa's), drinking a lot of water, NO cardio (yet), and using an ephedra-free fat burner. Now, I lost about 5 pounds in the first week, but I know this was all water weight simply b/c I started drinking a LOT of water (which I haven't done before) and I look less bloated in the mornings. By week 2, the weight leveled off and plateaued. From the middle of week 2 till now (end of week 3), I've lost 1.7 pounds.

Now, my strength has actually gone up for compound exercises. I think I can attribute this to the thermogenic; I am getting bursts of energy during the workouts that I've never experienced so far.

I can't get my bf% taken until one of the gym's employees comes back from vacation in a few weeks (he hooks it up). But due to the fact that I lost mostly water weight in the first week, strength has been leveled or going up in exercises, and protein intake is high, can I safely assume that the 1.5 pounds I lost during the past week has been mostly fat? Thanks
