Eat Or Fast?

The past few weeks have been really hetic for me. For one reason or another I haven't had the time to cook good clean meals or even eat as often as I should. When in this situation what would be the best thing to do? Eat fruits which are mostly always available or just skip that meal? I am trying to drop bf% and also gain a little muscle. I usually try to eat a protein bar when in this situation. But I have been spending some time at the hospital with a relative and they aren't available there. What should I do?

Never skip a meal. YOUR body will tell you late at night that it's missing that meal. 9 times outta 10 you will grab JUNK food to "nourish" it!

If I were in your shoes..I'd hit the salad bar at the hospital- Most hospitals have decent food choices now a days.

If you are serious about losing bf and getting in shape..you have to make sacrafices...it has to be a PART of your DAILY LIFE.....prepare your food ahead of time....you have to make time and get things ready...it isnt easy...but it takes organization and being consistent...skippin meals is terrible...slows down your metabolism and you are only starving your body of the nutrients it needs to grow...boil some eggs....pre-cook your chicken in the oven while you do things around the house...it can be done..you cant be sporadic with you eating and expect to see any kind of results...its a choice you have to make...has to be a priority...i always ask the clients we see...How bad do you want this....if its bad you will go to the ends of the earth to accomplish it...i would..but that is just me:)

1 quick solution: TUNA POUCHES!!! I didn't even know they existed before Elite! Carry plastic forks & subsist on that & salad bars if you must. Just have at least that one healthy option with you (much better than a protein bar or skipping a meal).

Gladiola: so i am new to this eating alot of protein and not a lot of carbs... my question is are protein bars not good for this diet?? they are what i snack on - one for morning and afternoon.. they are low carb:2.5/calories:210/fat:5/protein:26.... what is your opinion?

Most of the time when I have to make these choices it is emergency situations, to late for the salad bar and I usually have nothing on me because I expected to be going home. I work about 30 min from home so I usually bring enough food with me for half a day and expect to be home at night. In some instances that is not the case. I really am trying hard to maintain a good healty eating habit. Are fruits and veggie sticks a bad Idea for a snack? Should I eat more than that for a snack?

My diet usually consits of
6:00 a.m. oatmeal/water
9:00 am fruit(usually orange) or protein bar
12:00 p.m salad (w/chicken)
3:00 p.m protein bar or fruit
700 p.m low fat low carb supper usually grilled chicken with a
sweet potato.

can u keep a stash at work?

i keep protein powder at my desk. if something comes up after work, i can just grab a shake and go.

maybe you can keep some extra protein meals handy for such occasions.

i have wondered about this question before theoretically, though. obviously it's better to figure out how u can have clean food w/ u whenever it's meal time... but when times like you describe sneak up on you, is it better to eat the sugar or fast until you can get to protein?

The problem is that a lot of them blatently lie about what is in the bar. Supplements aren't regulated by the government & studies have shown many products don't contain what they claim to.

So I fear they have extra sugar! Someone posted a thread about it a while back, "That protein bar you are eating is crap" or something. Overall, the closer to nature, the better & real food is best. However, I do think a protein bar is *better* then say a bagel if you CAN'T get tuna or chicken or tofu or something. (They also help sugar cravings! :)

You need more protein in your diet....take in egg whites or some chicken for your first meal..never just eat a meal of just carbs...You need more real food..bars and shakes are great when you are on the go...take enough food for the whole day...i always pack an extra meal...never know what could happen...better safe then sorry. Your calories seem really low too....dont be afraid to eat more food...you will not get fat eating 6 oz of chicken and green beans...get your veggies in....I usually eat 6-8 oz of turkey breast, lean red meat, chicken, fish etc....cottage cheese...tuna..egg whites...eat to fuel...
