cops don't "raid" houses without knowing there's alot of shit in the house....they raided your house and got 6g of pot, a scale and alittle juice.........?!

That's enough to raid a house where I live if they have suspicions or tips saying there's some other form of proof drugs are on site(drug parapheanelia found in in your curbside garbage works). Most likely the son sold to an undecover or informant which is more than enough to get a warrant. These charges may be brought up seperately at a later time. In fact, you could hire an attorney and beat all of these initial charges or possibly get a plea bargain for probation. A day later they come and arrest your son for selling to a cop/narc on a seperate charge - which would violate his probation or revoke it=jail time. Cops aren't obligated to show you all of their cards right away. They can wait 3-7 years to do this depending on the state you live in and what class the drugs are filed under. It amazes me that people possess or buy contraband without fully knowing the legal risks involved and how to react if shit hits the fan.

ROFL at this thread. I guess no need to reiterate this to you, but WTF are you thinking??

 the cops over there must be incompetant assholes over there then...it's not protocol to raid a house without solid proof there's alot of shit in the house...if they listened to every little rat saying this guy and that has alot of shit, they would be raiding tons of houses ED w/ little to show.

there was a kid i knew that was stealing from the cash drawer when he was working at subway and he got caught, so the cops said if you rat someone out we will drop the charges. so he told them i move large quantities of cocaine and they got the DTF involved to arrest me for it. the sad part was i couldn't even afford to buy a car!! and i was selling cocaine??...lol, i cant believe they were stupid enough to believe it. the said part was when they arrested me my buddy got caught with weed and a pipe and when it was all said and done my charges were dropped but my friend still got possession, so yes cops will do whatever they want.

Putting a message on a public internet site that your son "admitted to dealing drugs" while his case is pending is incredibly stupid. How many guys in jersey got their houses raided and live with their 21 and 18 year old son? How many have exactly one syringe, one scale, etc.

Not too hard to figure out who you are. Now all the cops need to do is get another warrant, seize your computer and now they have more proof of your drug dealing kids.

Please stop talking to anyone other than attorney. For your kids sake.

As far as you, no offense, but I don't care about your dumb ass. You were the one who left the gear in your 18 yo son's bedroom. Your 18 yo who already has known issues with drug abuse and the law.

Just goes to show you that any idiot can be a father.

Sorry for the tough talk, but you need a good slap around. Now shut up, talk to an attorney and try to figure out how to get your kids on a path that won't lead to my taxes paying their room and board for the next 10-15 (with good behavior)!!!

Yeah...I should get f@%&ing rep points for setting this thread straight!

gotta pipe in an "agree" here.

A father's job is to protect their kids not endanger them no matter how old they are.

i have spoken to an attorney. he will be representing my son. and he said, his friend from anopther attorney firm will represent me. meaning that, my step son will plead not guilty, and i will take the blame. i mean, they have no proof that it was his, it wasnt actually on him.

Get a blood test..your son is clean...and you will test posititive.

I thought there was something in the stipulation of a warrent that you couldnt only really get nailed for what the warrent was for??

Warrants must have specificity with regards to items and places to be searched, cops do NOT have carte blanche to go looking wherever. Grab the warrant, read it, and deny access to places not listed!

Anything siezed improperly will be voided as evidence obtained in violation of our 4th Amendment constitutional right to be free from illegal search and siezure and will be excluded.

On the other hand, there is what's called the "Plain View" doctrine where a cop can follow up on anything suspicious he sees out in the open once he has a legal right to be in the area.

I'm sure all the bedrooms were included in the warrant.

once the cops have a warrent, they can look were ever they want and for what ever they want.

The plain view thing is if a cop is in your house WITHOUT a warrent, he can only use things against you that are in his plain view.

There realy no way to fight it, but with a good lawyer you can get your 18yr old son out of trouble.
