Alright which shrugs do what?

Which type of shrugs give best mass and which give best definaition. Are incline shrugs best for mass?

Your traps are big enough for now Trapasaurus. Work on you Back and shoulders. Your traps will grow as a result of them. Besides, you already know your traps are tremendous for your physique. :D
 
Shrugs build traps primarily.

The type of shrug you do (db or bar, and I've never heard of incline shrugs before, but if they're what I think they are, they sound like a great way to blow both rotators) does not determine mass or definition. Weight amounts and diet do.
 
after doing mainly just barbell shrugs for a years, my traps just stop growing, i got em to start growing again and get huge by doin dumbell shrugs, using slightly lower weight than usual, i bring em all the way up , pausefor a good 3-5 seconds and then bring them alll the way down getting a really deep stretch of my traps. this technique made me traps enormous...a little too big maybe :D
 
It doesnt matter what kind of shrug I do, my traps wont budge. But when I do heavy deads, they explode, especially if I throw in light higher rep sets of smith machine shrugs afterwards
 
I'm with needsize on this one...
Deadlift your brains out man... I have good trap genetics like you and I don't do anything to target them... and they continue to grow... I can make my neck dissapear.. lol
 
I hit a wall with my traps for several months, but then on the advice of someone at my gym I started doing powershrugs supersetted with low weight high rep dumbell shrugs, and my traps seriously got the lead out, my neck disappeared in a little over a month....a truly beautiful thing.
 
We used to do these while lifting for football, but I never really got into them until this past year (5 yrs later). It is basically the very beginning stages of a powerclean (well sort of) start with hands shoulder width on barbell positioned at midthigh, knees slightly bent, In one continuous motion (takes practice) straighten your legs enabling you to get an extra burst of power as you shrug the bar up. Sorry for the terrible explanation but I hope it helps. Once you get used to these you can pack on a ton of weight and this really spurs my trap development. Give em a shot
