Ok, here's the story. I'm driving to my gym today, about an hour and a half after eating a nice meal of yams,chicken,and veggies (arent i good)lol. Anyway, I drive up to my gym, and there were no cars there, not ONE! I was like, oh...they closed down due to the tragedy, but I figured I'd go up to the front door to read the note that they left. I Drive up to the front , parked on the side of the curb, and two men were standing out front of the gym holding flyers. I was like "oh they closed down, due to the tragedy".. they said "no, but that's what they're saying". I was like...huh??? My fucking piece of shit gym decided to close up shop PERIOD!!.....They went bankrupt....DIDN'T TELL ANY MEMBERS.....JUST LOCKED THE DOORS, AND LEFT!! I paid $300 for a full year membership about a month ago (sinbce I';m no new to the area), and they decide , to not tell anyone about this, and close up.....WORST OF ALL...they blamed it on the massacre on the east coast! How fucking dare they blame their closing on the tragedy, when the truth of the matter is , that the stupid owner doesn't know how to take care of finances. What a piece of $h!t... I could not believe this, and wanbt my money back! I worked out for one month for $300????! No way. I already went to a better gym to check things out....WORLD GYM...and I'm going to join there, where I'm sure they won't just close up shop. Anyway, if you've read through all of this,...DO YOU BELIEVE THIS??

damn, that sucks bro. That is completely unacceptable! I would say report them to the better business bureau?sp? but since they are no longer in business I dont know what to tell you. I hope that you get your money back. Good Luck

TxRugby had a good idea although i wouldnt tell you to break in... If you happen to find yourself inside the gym, i would suggest taking some equip and calling it even...Just a thought????

this happend at the powerhouse in my city, and the members got together and filed a claim, and got there money refunded for the memberships. post something on the gym door, and get a patition and file one, and see what comes of it.

Independent gyms go out of business all the time. I don't know if you have any real recourse, particularly if they are insolvent, but you can always file a grievance with your state's attorney general. Sticking with a national chain is always a good idea if you're going to pay for your membership in advance IMO.
