demotivated by the big guys?!

Hi.
Did you guys also get demotivated when you were skinny and saw the big guys posing around and lifting a lot more than yourself? When i see those guys, i get to know how skinny i still am i and think if i will ever become like these guys. And when i start my sets, i always hope that nobody looks at me so that they don't see how weak i am in comparison to them and that makes me somewhat unconcentrated.
Did you also have such problems? if yes, what did you do? just fuck it?

It actually gives me motivation knowing that I'll be bigger than them someday. I haven't met too many people that know how to train correctly.

I hear what you're saying though. When I first started when I was 18 I was like 160, totally skinny. But the bigger you get the smaller people look. I used to think Van Damn was HUOOOOGE. Now I wouldn't want to be that small. ;)

You can't be concerned with what other people think or look at the gym. Everybody was skinny once. No one just walked into the gym their first time and was throwing around the weights. It's time and dedication that will make you grow to the size of the bigger guys. Just focus on yourself and if anything use their physiques as motivation FOR you to get bigger. Good luck and jsut be patient.

yeah

I always was in awe of the bigger guys. I remember when I first started I thought guys 6'1 plus and 220 were huge.

But I just worked my ass off and soon was bigger than them.

Same with benching. I used to be in awe of guys repping 315 until I did it.

Now I'm one of the "big guys" people look at and ask questions.

Soon enough you will be to if you keep busting your ass. Just remeber we all started somewhere and help some of the people out that are trully showing some dedication.

Sorta, yeah... "fuck it". I was a little piggy when I went to the gym and was very motivated by the ripped men and women who worked out there. You'll find that there is nothing to be intimidated about. Just like anyone else, the beautiful women or the hardcore men may not like to be stared at or barraged with questions, so give them their space and when the timing is right, introduce yourself and ask if you could ask them a question or two from time to time. This could help break the ice a bit and maybe you'll learn a thing or two along the way -- and maybe even get some new friendships going... (if that's what you want).
Just don't let things like that bother you or get in your way.

Ive REALLY noticed this lately. Ive gained 40 pounds in the last year and it seems like everyone looks so fucking small now. There were guys I thought were huge just at the beginning of this year and now they dont look big at all, yet they are still the same size.

Big guys make me intimidated.
I still get intimidated whenever I look into the mirror.;)

I don't get demotivated by someone bigger than I, but what I can't stand is somebody that's huge that thinks they are better than someone else just because of their size. I try not to look down at anybody, no matter their size/strength.

exactly my point. and usually the "smaller" guy looks more aesthetically pleasing for that matter. so all that bigness gets them nowhere if the smaller guy has better structure/genetics.
