crystal lite

just wonder if any of u guys use this to flavor up your water at all i know they have sodium in them but after a while the water gets blah so seeing what u guys think

Drink it everyday in my water bottle. Ruby red grapefruit and Pink lemondade. Good stuff. Ocean spray sugar free cranberry juice is my new favorite. Tastes exactly like regular juice. 5 calories per serving.

Yeah I use it on about every 3rd week. Not every week straight though. That is just my insatiable fear of salt and 5 cals from nowhere eating away at reasonable thought though.

Hey Guys,

Be aware of the aspartame in crystal lite. Not only does the methanol turn into formaldehyde in your body (carcinogenic), but aspartame and other artificial sweeteners have been shown to effect your insulin levels negatively. They cause a spike which raises your insulin and obliviously its very hard to burn fat when your insulin levels are spiked. Not only is the aspartame very unhealthy, but crystal lite also contains maltodextrin which also has an effect on your insulin levels. Basically, if you're drinking diet soda and/or crystal lite throughout the day, you will be causing a rapid rise and fall of insulin all day long. Not a good thing when trying to shed body fat...

Here is a great documentary on the background and the negative effects of aspartame:

I'm talking from experience. I was a serious user of crystal lite and diet drinks for many years. I just quit cold turkey about 10 days ago and the withdrawals have been unbelievable. I never knew how these additives (actually narcotics if you do the research) would have such an extreme effect my body and also have serious addictive effects. I was incredibly tired, my eyes were so sore I could barely open them and my overall body felt very weak and sore. It took a full 7 days before I could function again and I'm not going back. Stick with water or decaf natural iced tea with a few lemons for taste. I hope this sheds some light and helps others about this important topic.

bad, u say that additives spike insulin negative right? Then why are they diabetic safe?

Asapartame was shown to have negative effects on insuling levels, however, I don't think it was very significant. I was always under the impression that aspartames worst trait was the fact it can cause some serious sugar cravings..

Its all in the hype/advertising. Do the research and you will find the truth. The only healthy sweetener to use is one called Stevia. Stevia is a natural sweetener derived from a plant from South America. Is has no effect on insulin levels and is the only true "diabetic safe" sweetener.

Aspartame's worst trait is the part of the chemical additive called methyl ester. This turns into methanol (wood alcohol) once it enters your body and then into formaldehyde (embalming fluid). I had no idea about the massive corruption by the FDA and these multi billion dollar companies like Monsanto which own Nutrasweet (equal/aspartame) and had this poison approved even though there was large amounts of data showing negative side effects and health issues. Its all about the "cash" and they did whatever they needed to get it approved and on the market. Its truly one of the worst cases I have ever read about and its unbelievable how many products aspartame is contained in.

The majority of people have no idea about the chemicals they put into their body. With slick marketing (crystal lite, etc.), its easy to "think" its healthy to consume these diet products since they are low calorie. I was one of those people, until I started researching and really learning about the chemicals that are contained in these diet sodas/drinks. Scary stuff...

Crystal lite helped me conquer my soda addiction; now I'm drinking 96oz of water daily (plus shakes, oatmeal, workouts) instead of 2-3 sodas.

I know all about the dangers of aspartame, etc. Just everything in moderation is key. I only use splenda on my oatmeal. So im preety much additive free.

I use stevia as well, i know all about stevia, and its uses.

Bad, go read stevia.net, it has the timeline of aspartame, and how it got passed for fda approval and how the fda person who did aprove it, was appointed co-ceo or something very high up in the company that was making aspartame.

I know the bad things about it, i just ddint read the part about the negative effect on insulin. I musta skipped it.

In no way was i trying to say aspartame is safe, i just didnt know it spiked insuling. Crazy.

Nice bro... good transitional choice there!

I will have some occasionally.

When I veer off plain water I prefer to have 1-2 diet sodas MAX per day... most days none.. just plain old H20 in a gallon jug.
