Before the internet, I was driving along a very well-known hooker street; Sepulveda Blvd in Sherman Oaks, CA. This was about 1988. I saw what I thought was an exceptionally hot hooker, and then on a closer inspection, I noticed a black rubber-ducky antenna sticking out of her bag. I knew immediately she was LAPD Vice Squad, and I pulled over and said "Excuse me mam; your antenna's showing". She thought it was funny, and thanked me, since I was an innocent teenage kid.
I still can't understand why prostitution is illegal, and why they don't just tax it and make rules about getting tested, etc. It works fine in Nevada, and I think a few other states. When California in particular, needs cash so desperately that they're ticketing wheelchairs for going too slowly, you'd think they'd come up with a reasonable way to legalize, regulate and tax some of the things that are now totally illegal, but don't hurt society whatsoever, when done responsibly.
