Personally, sex is a big part of the compatability equation for me. I wouldn't even consider someone relationship worthy if we hadn't had sex yet. I've been in two long term relationships in my young life, both were long term f'buddies before any sort of feelings developed (atleast on my end).

It's not like wine that gets better with age, it's sex.

People have different sexual preferences (I'm not talking gay vs hetero). My partner's gotta like, tolerate and accept my perverse and dominant sexual manners.

Why would you spends months (even years for some) building a relationship only to find that you are not sexually compatible? All your other compatabilities are not going to fix or compensate for your sex life, unless you're the type of person that only has sex to procreate, but I think it's safe to say that none of us (aside from foxygel) fit into that category.

In highschool I waited 9 months before I got to bone my ex-girlfriend whom I dated for 3 1/2 years. I took her virginity. It was sooo worth it But that was highschool.
