correlation between DB press and bar bench

So since were on the subject of DB vs. BB , if a guy were to have a great deal of shoulder pain on barbell press (flat or incline) would he be loosing alot of power just doing bumbbells

I'm getting realy sick of this fucking shoulder pain , and I don't realy have a reason to bench 500lbs so what would I loose or gain by doing dumbbells ??

I generally do inclines after flat barbell, so I'm somewhat fatigued. I don't like jerking up the heavy dumbbells because I worry about injuring my wrists. So when I do the lighter dumbs I take little rest (1 min or less between sets) go slow and concentrate on my form to get the work in.

Unless you're concerned about your personal high in the bench I wouldn't worry about only doing dumbbells for chest. At the end of the day I really don't think it will make much of a difference in your physic(sp?). If anything the dumbbells will work more muscle( stabilizers ) the barbell might give a little more size, but if you're getting pain I'd stay away from the barbell, it'll only get worse.

thanks for the tip bro , I might just use the Barbell for higher reps as they don't hurt as bad as the heavy does

I'm basicaly looking to get a better build and some size

The amount you can do on dumbbells depends on how long you've done them for and how much you've built up those muscles! I can do 120's eight times on my fifth set of db flat, but my 1RM on bench is only 300. I see lots of people who can do more than me on bench, but not come close on db's, because they don't work out with them often. Try 4 to 6 weeks of all db workouts then 4 to 6 weeks of bar. Watch everything go way up. Then alternate the two! Good luck!
