Clubbells?

Im interested in ordering some Clubbells (aka Indian Clubs) to work on my boxing a little bit. They supposidly are good for grip strenght, and working out your forearms and a full circular strength in shoulders. Does anyone on this board use them or have any feedback from friends, etc on their effectiveness.

I have seen a few videos off the net of people using them and their arms are fricking enormous.

Im just wanting to see if any feedback is on here on them

thanks

I am using a sledge hammer for exercising......its pretty much a simmilar concept. Though the sledgehammer isnt as good due to all the weight being placed at the very end. (im am not keen to do those full rotations that they do with clubbells).....but at the same time thats a good thing for levering.

your wrists and forearms will become quite developed.

they kind of catch me as new fad......but i have seen many photos and drawings of old soviet training halls, with lots of people training with clubbells doing drills.

Yeah I realize that they seem to be a new fad, but after doing some research and reading Circular Stength Training Club Bell exercise progam and Knuckledragger philosophy, it has an extensive history of them.

Apparently they are based on a derivation of a Mace, that knights used in the middle ages, and has been changed.

But all kinds of Strongmen used them in the late 1800's and up to early 1900's, even had them in Physical Education classes in the Soviet Union. Somehow or another they dropped out of existence for the time being, but were implemented by the Iranians primarily as long as they have recorded history.

Im anxious to try them this summer when I have some more disposable income and am not in school. They tout themselves more toward Comabt people, but have alot of sport specific programs included in the book.

Ill post some results on them later.

anyone else have any thoughts?

My thought is that you could get a couple of 2 foot sections of 4" diameter pipe, a couple of 6" section of 1" diameter pipe, some pipe caps, and a small bag of concrete mix to fill the pipe with (or lead shot for that matter) and make a pair yourself for a tiny fraction of what you'll pay for a set of the real ones.
