CKD Diet questions

Hey Guys, I am new to this forum and very happy I have discovered it as I have decided it is time for a change! I am totally confused as to how to aproach diet and excercise and what I should be doing, so please bear with me and any help is much appreciated. I am 23 and used to work out when I was in college at 18, I noticed some small gains but I still had my rather tubby bod, what I am wanting to do is drop some of my bodyfat since we are coming into summer over here in NZ but I also want to put on a little muscle for asthetics and also I heard the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn (?) ( I dont wanna be bulky tho) So I am confused as to what diet I should be going for, a body for life type diet or a CKD, I think I have gathered from this board that its the CKD I would prolly be best on, tho what I am dying to know is, if you are on one of these diets can you actually gain some muscle mass, while shedding fat? I dont want to go through a bulking stage this close to summer, but I also know that I will look quite gaunt if I drop fat and have no tone on my body at all. Can I be saved? What can I do???

Thanks very much :)

PS - Is liquid creatine better than the powder as far as absorbtion and water retention goes?

I've worked with numerous people that have done good with a BodyOpus style diet (same as CKD, just minor variation). It was originally put together by Dan Duchaine.

The diet is basically the same as CKD (read my CKD manual) but there is a 2 day carb-up instead of a 1 day carb-up.
Use my CKD manual parameters and add 1 day extra carb-up w/ low-gi foods (i.e. oatmeal, beans)
