hey SCG, is ART applicable to knee pain? both my knees are killing me.
yes ART can definitely be of help with knee problems. obviously, it depends on the specific problem and the severity. ART isn't going to fix a torn ACL, to use an extreme example.
In all honestl, my knee is the one chronic problem (along with degenerative disc disease, but that doesn't count) I have that ART has not been able to sufficiently cure. It helps to lessen the pain, but my knee is not getting much better, overall. If I had the money to make a visit twice a week and the time to let it rest, i'm sure i could make some progress. My problem is severe patellar tendonitis. except the patellar tendon is so far down the chain of problems, that until i get my back, glutes, hammys, hip flexors, and quads all in top form (no adhesions, good flexibility, no scar tissue, etc), they are just going to keep affecting my knee.
I've been seeing a new ART guy in Tempe who is a biomechanics expert. the guy is absolutely amazing and has been a big help to me. i really have a much better understanding now of how it is that these chronic problems develop. i'm trying to stay focused now on improving my overall "chain of kinetics", instead of just worrying about the particular body part that hurts. the guy who started this post is a classic example of how the body part with the pain is not necessarily the source of the problem.
anyway, if i can help with anymore info, let me know. but giving ART a try is ALWAYS the first way to go in my opinion.
