Hi all
I'm starting my cutting diet this week and was hoping some of you could have a look at it and let me know what you think. I'm 6'2 275lbs and around 18% bodyfat. Ill have 4 protein shakes with very low fat milk and a couple of berries for extra flavor, their breakdown is 60g protein, 15.3g carbs and 1.5g fat

meal 1: protein shake
meal 2: chicken roll
meal 3: protein shake, chicken
meal 4: chicken & veges
meal 5: steak or chicken and protein shake
meal 6: post workout protein shake
meal 7: meat and veges
meal 8: protein shake

this should workout to be around 500g protein, 120g carbs and around 50g fat
which works out to be around 3020cals a day. Doe's this look like a good cutting diet? another diet i have come across that's used for comps is (although i'm not going in a comp it's quick and effective so i'm told)

12 egg whites, 1 apple, protein shake
100g rice, 1 apple, protein shake
red meat, salad (tomato, lettuce, cucumber), protein shake 10g fatty oil
100g bread, 1 apple, protein shake
tuna or chicken or fish, protein shake
protein shake, 1 apple
chicken or turkey or fish, salad, protein shake

(Considering your first diet).

This is decent. Only improvements would be:

(1) up fats slightly and decrease protein. There appear to be no EFA's in the diet - most studies show taht EFA's increase fat oxidation. Either eat some salmon, mackeral, or add flaxseed oil or fish oil tablets to your diet.

(2) Also take vitamin supplments, particularly calcium, which also increases fat oxidation.

(3) A protein shake is not the greatest final meal if its whey protein, athough fine if its caisin.

(4) For meal 2, could you use another carb as opposed to bread (Chicken and yams?)

(5) Both diets 1 and 2 are too reliant on protein shakes. Protein shakes have a lower thermic effect than whole protein foods such as chicken.

For diet 2:

It has too much fruit. Replace the apple carbs with either oats, barley, yams, low GI veggies etc

People will Disagree with what I will say but I did my BEST on 2 Solid Meals and 2 Protein Shakes a day

Each meal was of a nice size so you get the perception of NOT dieting, and the Shakes help with any time you get a craving

the only problm here is that to get egg white i'd have to buy whole eggs theres no just egg whites and that seems like a waste to me haha

Geez that's good - what kinda shop? In Australia, there at least $3A per dozen, or about $2.6 US

I'm wondering whether we could have an equivalent type store

Winco foods, its an employee owned food store. they sell them in five dozen cases for like $4.98. If you have a food wholesaler or warehouse, any place that sells in bulk, you'll probably find the best deal there. same with frozen chicken breast. you'll have to compare according to what you can find down there at different prices. but your best bet should be either eggs, chicken breast, or canned tuna. cottage cheese is usually fairly cheap per gram of protein as well. but a lot of people either cant stand the taste or just wont eat it on a cutter because of the dairy. although a certain amount of dairy can help your body burn fat, specifically belly fat. i read that in a couple different studies, although a lot of guys on here would probably dissagree with it.

Yeah I have read the dairy thing also - doubles fat oxidation apparently. I don't find any bloat from dairy (even if I drink litres of milk) so don't get the anti dairy thing.
