Buffalo meat....

Nighthawkk said:
I picked some buffalo burgers up at a Trader Joe's yesterday. I noticed the protein content is quite high (24g per patty) and the fat is about 5 times lower than that of regular chuck beef. I have yet to try them, but tonight I am going to make them for dinner. If they are tasty, I think I will make them a staple in my diet during my next bulk cycle. Anyone else eat these before?

First, I never liked the taste of Buffalo meat, it just tastes funny to me, just a personal problem I guess.

Second, if the meat is from Wild Buffalo, I am highly against buying it because it is usually obtained by destroying a highly endangered species. However, this would the the most optimal meat as far as nutritional values.

Thrid, if they are pen grown, as ob said, they are not fed the same so the nutrients are NOT what they claim they are.

Lastly, EFAs are in all animal fat, but after the extreme heating that is needed to cook animal meat, the EFAs, for the most part, are gone. So don't expect too much of it either way.

Mr. X, regarding your comment about the meat losing the EFA's after cooking, are you saying that if I were to eat it raw I could ditch my flax oil? That might be worth it for me.

Even though in theory that would be possible, I don't want to even elaborate for the fear that someone will actually eat the raw meat and suffer from it.
