Biceps getting in the way for cleans.

I found 1 good use for the Smith machine...

I have big flexibility issues when I clean. So what I've been doing lately is locking the Smith machine bar just under chin height and grabbing it where I would if I was cleaning the weight from the floor. Then I "catch" the bar so to speak, and push my elbows out under the resistance of the locked bar. Essentially trying to push my body into the correct position.

The first time I did this I was AMAZED at how tight my shoulders and wrists were.

Try it...maybe it'll help
 
hah, if i could post vids i would post every workout :D
still haven't quite figured out my old camera.
and come to think about it i think i will try and get it fixed this weekend.

i'll keep you informed if anything happens.
 
As other have said, the ideal hand spacing will vary by person. For me it is slightly closer than for an overhead press. This causes me problems on max effort as I am not able to get my full arm strength into the push. I have been working on a wider grip but then I am not able to rack as much.
