BF Calculation Question

I apologize in advance if this is in the incorrect forum.

I'm trying to understand how much BF I need to lose. Right now I'm 19% BF (just starting working out again) - and weigh 230 lbs (6'1"). How much "fat" (or weight) do I need to lose to be down around 10% BF? I don't think it's as quick as taking 20% of 230 and dividing it in half to get 10% less (which would mean I need to lose 23 lbs to be at 10% BF). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

No need to complicate things... what you've described is a good start. Focus on dropping 23lbs of fat while maintaining your lean mass... do that and you've done something incredible.

For the actual math, you pretty much have it.

If 19% of 230 is pretty much 44lbs of fat, then your lean mass equals 186lbs. Now picture yourself down 22lbs. You'd weigh 208. And guess what... at 10% bodyfat, you'd still have 21lbs of fat, and your lean mass totals 188.

So the math isn't perfect, but it's almost bang on. Once you get down to 210, you can fine tune it. Just focus on keeping the muscle... that's the challenge.
