best option to transport gear domestically

Or you can try out this little trick....

Wrap the gear in one of those flat-paper USPS Express envelopes, then put it in something else. Even if someone finds your hidden envelope, they still can't open it without a warrant. Most likely, they will just drop the issue because spending all the time to get a warrant is too much of a pain in the ass for them. If they can't rip it open immediatley (like the rest of your luggage), they won't waste their time. They are lazy people to begin with.

Interesting question... Does the implicit consent to search associated with airport baggage check-ins, apply to "otherwise protected US mail" found inside the bag itself?

I would imagine there would be ways to get around this such as leaving the envelope in the bag and sending the bag through the x-ray machine. Then again they could just detain you if things were too suspicious. I'm sure John Ashcroft has offered some new provision to get around this

Bump for more info on that

The envelope isn't in the mail. As such, it ain't mail. It's just a paper thingie you got from USPS. I cannot see evidence siezed in such a search being suppressed.

Plus, the XRay machines in use now can distinguish between various liquids. This is how they know your shampoo bottle does not contain a flammable that could be used as a bomb.

You take great risk transporting anything illegal on an airplane, because you have consented to search without probable cause when you do so.

As an aside, why does everyone come on here and ask for advice on how to break the law? Rename this board to "I want to break the law...how do I do it?"

Carry it on you in your pockets. There shouldn't be enough metal in the pinz or vials to set off the metal detectors. Wear loose cargo pants with lots of pockets.

metal detectors are very sensitive. i wouldnt put metal on you unless you want a cavity search

Put the pins in your check luggage with your toiletries. and carry on the vials. I don't think that the metal detector are going to go off from the thin aluminum on top of the vial. People wear rings, necklesses, and braclets all the time when they go through them.

This is idiotic...you're telling him to try to WALK ON with steroids on him?

Yes, the metal detectors CAN hit off the foil wrapper on a freaking baby wipes package. I know because I just hit on the wand with one on a trip a month ago.

Quigley...why doesn't your dumb ass go try it and tell us all how it went for you.
