I'm looking to find out which fruits have the least amount of fast acting sugars in them..... I'm dieting to avoid insulin spikes, and wanna know what the best fruit choices are? Thanks

eat your fruits with some protein and good fats, and you will DRASTICLY lower the GI value of the sugars in the fruit. Eat the fruit alone? er.... dont. easy peasy.

This is a pretty good statement. That said, pretty much any thing that ends in 'berries' is the way to go. I would stay away from bananas, apples, and oranges. Stick with blueberries, blackberries, rasberries, boysenberries, etc. They are excellents sources of vitamins, minerals, fibre, and phytonutrients.

apples happen to rule. good fiber sourse and mostly water by volume, bananas are satanic, i am with you there.

You forgot the mondo-uber-epitomable reason of reasons for eating berries!! Berries and seeds are natures stockpile of electrolytes!

Natural Laxative? No. Fiber Rich thereby aiding bulking in the lower intestine? yes. VERY different mechanism. Example: .1gm of Croton Oil will make you shit your pants, like knocking the top off a fire hydrant, before you can stand up from the table. Apples just kinda help ya stay regular. One is a laxative, one is a good fiber sourse. Differ'nt. Definitely.

Apples bad? Er.. um.... no.

Apples are lower than both in the relationship of what % of their calories come from carbs... and have over a gram of fiber per/oz which lowers their GI/GL as well, which blueberries and strawberries do not. Look below. Just because you can eat 2 oz of strawberries does not make WHERE THE CALORIES ARE COMING FROM any different: they just have a higher water content. Apples lay the smackdown on Blueberries and Strawberries.
