Had an accident on the slopes yesterday - fell, ski did not release so I twisted my right knee and did a Grade 3 (complete tear) of my right ACL.....need to get a MRI to confirm, but it doesn't look good....

Ski season is over.......competition season is over before it began.....

Not a happy camper right now....
That sooooo sucks! I'm sorry to hear this and read this! Keep your chin up and do what you can do. Basically you have an obstacle where you have to think hard of what you can still do despite the obvious of what you can't do.

Oh jen that stinks...only postive thing is that tears can heal faster then pulls and strains.....oh girl hang in there!

Well with a complete tear - there is NO healing.....I would need to remove some "stuff" from other parts of my leg to make a new ACL or get one from a cadaver.... ewwww!

Although I"m being told I don't really need an ACL to do certain things....know some skiier who don't have one in either leg...

Today - I was able to walk up the steps with the aid of the crutch....but I was scooting on my butt....and I can stand with some pressure on that leg....Now this doesn't mean it's not still torn - but I need to get a MRI....

Well, that definitely sounds like an improvement!!!! Think positive here! Hopefully, it's minor and just causing some discomfort. Good vibes your way, girl!!! :rose:

Oh jens :worried: I am so, so sorry for you :bigkiss:

My ex husband had the exact same thing happen to him the very first -- and ONLY -- time he went skiing ...

Well I do have to say that with an injury - having weight trained so extensively has come in handy!! Thank God for upper body strength!!

And walking around on crutches is tiring & whew! what a workout.....

Been doing my exercises given by the Dr. with no pain today.....

Will they operate to repair it?

Talk to your doc about getting massage work done around the knee.... Crutches are one of the worst things for your body. I know you can't help but to use them.... but you are going to be using other synergistic muscles now as prime movers and you are going to have more pain in other areas of the body. Plus massage helps the healing process... not that it can help heal a complete tear but help the other muscles having to pick up the slack now from the stress they are under.

Well I have to use crutches right now as I can't support my full weight on that leg.....but I am using 1 now opposed to 2....

GG - I may have to have surgery.....will see once I get the MRI done.....
