I didn't see anything in the article that indicates erosion of rights. What did catch my atttention, though, is the usual whining from the left about the treatment of suspected terrorists. To the Liberals, kid-glove handling of potential murderers is more important than eradicating the threat.

I'm a conservative & am having a hard time dealing with what's going on. We have a Liberal gov. here & they're ramming the same kind of stuff down citizens throats.

This is not a Liberal vs. Conservative issue... it's a freedom issue.

I never said it was a Liberal v. Conservative issue. I merely commented on the Liberals' comments in the story. But, since you mention it, there is an undeniable philisophical difference between the two sides when it comes to issues like this one. There are always wild cards, but the basic differences are there. I happen to be a political conservative and I also happen to hold certain beliefs consistent with that Conservatism.

I will never agree that it is better to look the other way and risk the possibility of another 9/11 scenario. Hard decisions need to be made about national security, and the Bush administration is trying to make them. I would rather suffer some inconvenience if it lessens the chances of my next flight being blown up. For all the talk about rights being trampled, there still is no hard demonstration of any of it. Maybe I just don't get it so please point it out to me.

I seriously suggest you watch the c-span video & listen closely. I'd also look more closely into the events of 9-11 & the preceding months/years, then determine whether 9-11 is just an excuse to slowly repeal people's rights.

Philosophically there SHOULD be a difference between left & right, but do the politicians who espouse those views really act in the manner conducive to the claimed ideology? If looked at objectively, you'll find the answer to be NO.

In your country's case, The Dept. of Homeland Security, DARPA & Total (ooops!) Terrorist Information Network are Big Brother run amok.
