Anyone use a Tanita Scale to measure your body composition??

I was thinking about picking up one of these. I heard they are better for people that have higher body fat % (i'm around 25%) because the accu-measure, which i currently own, gets to be less reliable as the BF % goes up. I don't really care about the exact percentage of body fat that I have, but I'd like to be able to get accurate feedback that is consistently reliable so I can see if I'm moving towards the specific goals I have set out for myself.

Thanks.....

I posted the same question on aother forum the other day. The response was that the BF scales are inaccurate and useless. The reason being, even if it wasnt a exact measure you'd think you could take that inaccurate number and judge if your reducing bf ect....the problem is the way the scale measures your bf is distrupted by added water, waste ect and you will get varying measurements.

The concensus was that the best way to measure bf is calipurs and to stay away from these ironman scales.

edit -- WOW i use to post here under the account FLEX123 and can not recall my password....been awhile and this new 600 sec to repost is ludacrous. I guess people had been racking up there post count with pointless threads and George had to put a stop to it.

I have the Tanita scale and it's supposed to be the best on the market. I could not believe how high my BF% was the first time I got on it. Someone posted a formula for measuring BF levels. Both the scale and that formula were almost the same. So I would have to say that the scale could be pretty acurate.

I have one but have been told they are very inaccurate for athletes in measuring BF%

Im not necessarily interested in the fact if they are super accurate or not (don't really need to know anyways, i'm not gonna be an elite athlete) but rather im just looking for a way that will show ME progress that i am making that has little variation from each reading... I just want it to show the progress i'm making correctly

The newer Tanita scales are quite good.

I have a Tanita Inner Scan, and my coach also uses one.

The ones that are more accurate are NOT cheap.

The accumeasure calipers and my Tanita are within 3% of each other on average.

Of all the brands for BMI scales, they are the best.
