I really like the westside methods, but want to make progress in bodybuilding, not powerlifting.
Any bodybuilders use westside methods for the primary goal of building more muscle?
thanx

yes it is true you do gain a lot of size on westside....
but if you dont want to be a powerlifter why train like one?

i guess it would be a bonus to look strong and actualy be strong

but id say if you wanted to do it.....do it right

You just need to compromise a little and you can use westside. I'm not a big user of west side but it does help a lot with strength.

You can either try doing westside for 8 weeks then going to a Bodybuilder regiment for 8 weeks, this kind of rotation keeps you fresh since the boredom of the same routine is taken out of the picture.

Or you can do your power movements in the beginning half of your workout and do body building the latter half. The reason i say powerlifting first is becasue you reall need to be fresh to use the heavy kind of weights weeestside demands.

I usually try strength trainning for about 8-12 weeks a year but recently i try doing three sets out of my whole workout that is strength related. Hope this helps...

I suggest doing either one or the other...but you can as Exodus to post the workout that I sent him a while back. We just added an auxillary movement after the main movement...the aux movement was a "shaping" movement like flyes or incline dbell presses. Just keep the volume and intensity low on these.

i was trying to find a way to do this a while back, but i dont think it will work. basically for the reasons that the whole workout is designed towards strength, not really maximum muscle development. thus you are not doing ne direct work on bodyparst such as biceps, triceps, etc. u just perform like box squat, board presses, things like taht in westside and you are not going to be able to maximize muscle development if u do a routine like this. i think your best with maybe if u want to do a westside routine for like 8 weeks or so, i dont think you should try to intermix them as you wont get enought recovery if you are trying to do intense direct work on bodyparts such as bis, tris. or as i like to do, just incorporate the basic core exercises into your bodybuilding routine first, i do deads, squats, bench press incline of flat always first in my routine for the bodyparts they designate iwth low reps going heavy.
