Am I ectomorph??

Sorry If I have made this post in the wrong place.

I was just curious if my body type is ecto because I have looked up the body types and most of what I can see ectomorphs have a small frame with lean skinny body tone.. and find it hard to put on weight.

I am lean/thin build, but have a big shoulder frame?? I eat 7 meals a day with shakes and thats just starting to show on me.. slow though.

I am 19, 150 pounds and 189 cms - 6,2.

150 at 6'2 is pretty thin, so yeah is sounds like you are an ectomorph. Make sure those 7 meals are high in cals and come from good sources of protein, carbs and fat. To make 7 meals 5 food meals and 2 shakes would be cool too, whole foods are usually better than just drinking aload of shakes...

Milk is also very good for bulking especially for hardgainers.

ecto - naturally thin, smaller joints, hard to put on mass
endo - naturally fatter, bigger bone structure, adds mass but also bodyfat
meso - naturally muscular and athletic, usually stays lean and finds it easier to add mass

its easy, everyone will lean further towards one than the rest. Alot of people are a mixture, and total mesomorphs are extremely rare...
 
Typically the more meals you eat the faster your metabolism is. If you are really having a hard time putting on weight you might consider going to 3 larger heavier meals per day, just a thought. Consider this, most peeps in this country eat 3 meals per day and most peeps in this country are overweight. I know there is a lot more to it then that, just something for consideration.
 
3 meals no way, unless you can get over 1000kcal in each meal. I could do that for breakfast but only way I can see someone doing that consistently everyday is if they are dirty calories ie macdonalds and pizza and stuff. But if your an extreme ecto and arnt as bothered about your health some dirty calories may not make you fat and might just help you add muscle mass and get stronger...

zedhed makes a good point though if you can deal with the uncomfortable feeling and being bloated doing 4 meals a day and a pwo shake and making those big meals may work better. I would have 3 meals before the gym and 1 meal after, and drink the shake meal at the gym when you finish, then go home and start cooking the fourth meal.
 
Eating super clean is almost counter productive to gaining.

Especially in the case of an ectomorph.

I agree with Zedhed. 3-4 SOLID meals a day is great for gaining.

If I'm really trying to push weight gain or strength gain I'll try for 3 dense meals and 3 protein shakes with milk, anpb and some ice cream thrown in.
 
First, I agree with ectomorph. But you're lucky! If you were a meso, you'd have a different battle that might be a lot harder. The other thing in your favor is that at 19, you're still probably not done with all aspects of hormonal changes to full adulthood. In a couple years, or maybe by 25, you will have an easier time bulking up, if you're like most. So hopefully your battle to get where you want to be, will get easier; unlike us old guys, whose battle is getting harder as time goes on.
