Alan Wake could be the best looking console game I've seen

Hell some of the stuff in that tech demo I haven't even seen done in a PC game. That's what I like about console development; the devs seem to pour so much more effort, optimization and detail (and money of course lol) into their games, and the best part is that it'll be "maxed out" the second it's loaded for everyone who plays it. No waiting months or years for gpu/cpu cycle$ to overcome bloated coding so you can get decent framerates *cough*Crysis*cough*

So far, if that video is indeed representative of real time gameplay, I think that will put Alan Wake in the lead for Best Technical Graphics '10.

I have a feeling that this won't be a good as you want it to be.

it does seem the games that have the best tech

fail at the end

The main game I'm waiting for is Fable 3.

Nothing good released about it yet, weak previews....

Game is fuckin' awesome tho. If you played numba 2, then you know
HHHWAHT I mean.

Fable III / Fable 3

Okay pretty mental ray rendering cinematics - but what about gameplay??? these games have nothing on the world of warcrafts and starcrafts o the world. Halo is the only game i've seen so far which people play HUNDREDS of hours year after year. Consoles are horrible at making games that hook people more than 30 days.

Bullshit dude look @ COD.

Thousands of people play whatever version of call of duty constantly.

It's like counterstrike for the computer illiterate.

The computer-illiterate/not interested in computer peeps play xbox. done deal.

ummm what?

How about any sports franchise?
Any game with any multiplayer hooks people. Any single player campaign style game will have a short shelf life, regardless of PC/console.

Yeah if you like typical overdone arcade games done a billion times. PC games offer wayyy more creativity and people are willing to pay $19/month for that. No console game maker has been able to create a $19/month online game for the console in comparison.

Consoles game makers need to get beyond "FPS/Sports or bust" since the 80's philosophy and start taking cues from the successful pc guys. Look how much Blizzard has made from the pc. Lucasarts with their upcoming Star Wars MMORPG are only doing it on the PC and the profits they're gonna make are gonna be insane cuz people like pc games that are more than just joystick shit.

Nintendo Wii is a refreshing change - they're creating games and technology that's goiung beyond typical arcade games. Guitar Hero, etc. are also exampels of success by going beyond typ8ical arcade games. The next xbox is also geraing up to bring gaming to a whole new level including bringing MMORPG to consoles -- so some exciting things are awaiting.

that's where you are wrong. Final fantasy charges a monthly fee, and it is cross platform. Xbox 360, ps2/3, and PC can all play together, and all pay a monthly fee. And you don't even need Xbox live gold to use it. It's one of the few games you can play multiplayer with only xbox live silver (aka free)
