ALA post workout?

I've read everything this is to know about ALA and have been taking it for sometime. I have one quick question.

My normal post workout nutrition is 40g protein, 40g high GI carbs and 300mg ALA.
My question is that if we want a big insulin spike post workout and ALA generally slows insulin response, is the ALA good to take post workout? I also take it with my carb meals but is it worthwhile post workout.

Thanks,
-w00d

ALA doesnt spike insulin. It allows your muscles to take up more glycogen.

Some people take it post workout some dont, your muscles are in a very receptive state post workout as it is.

yup, i dont think it would hurt to take it but lke hansel said you are gonna be more insulin sensitive after workout, so i don't as it stretches out my supply of the stuff

If you have normal insulin sensitivity and are not insulin resitance...in other words, if you are exercising, lifting weights, and using good eating habits, then ALA may not be needed post-workout. Save it for the other meals, especially those that have a higher fat count with carbs.

You major benefit of taking it post workout would most likely be it's anti-oxidant benefits. Lifting causes alot of stress and free radical damage to muscles. So popping some ALA, vit C & E postworkout is always a good idea to counteract this.

gsxr, no bro, its best to take your anti-oxidants on your way to the gym so that they are in your system be the time you are finished. I usually do 1000 mg vit c, 400 iu's vit e, 25,000 iu's beta ceratene preworkout.

ALA doesn't spike your insulin, it clears blood sugar and enhances glycogen synthesis. It mimicks insulin in it's actions, that doesn't mean that it spikes insulin. It allows your muslces to soak up more of the nutrients in your bloodstream, I guess in a sense it amplifies what insulin does.
