Royals hungry to end 11-game losing skid

Coming off a 6-5 loss in their last game, Kansas City assigns the task of getting back on the winning track to Joe Mays on Saturday at home.

Paul Byrd brings a 2-1 mark and a 7.02 ERA to the table for Cleveland. He controlled the Royals nicely is his last outing, throwing 9 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5.

Sporting a 10-7 overall record and an 8-3 mark within the division, the Indians aim to knock the Royals (2-7 in the division) for a loss.

The Indians (10-7) opened as 205 favorites and they face a Royals team that has won 2 of their 15 games this season. The total opened at 10.

Eric Wedge's troops went to Kansas City last game and came away with a 6-5 win, a game that went over 10. Oddsmakers had them as favorites in that one.

Kansas City's hitting hasn't been much to write home about, as they are averaging just 7.5 hits per game on the season, ranked #13 in the American League.

CLE: P. Byrd (2-1, 7.02)
KC: J. Mays (0-2, 11.68)
