The latest battle in the long-running war between the Miners and the Mustangs kicks off Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

UTEP takes its 8-2 mark to SMU to tackle the 4-6 Mustangs.

The Miners (4-5 ATS) opened as 8-point favorites and they face a Mustangs team that has covered 6 of their 10 games this season.

After losing last week, Mike Price's team looks to bounce back with a solid showing on the road Saturday in SMU. They were 8 point favorites in that game.

Phil Bennett's troops were at Houston against the Cougars last game and came away with a 29-24 win. Oddsmakers had them as 11-point underdogs in that game.

Some trends to consider:
UTEP is 1-9-0 SU in its last 10 games after scoring 21 to 30 points
UTEP is 2-4-0 ATS in its last 6 lined games
UTEP is 5-2-0 ATS in its last 7 lined games against SMU
SMU is 5-1-0 ATS in its last 6 lined games
SMU is 2-5-0 ATS in its last 7 lined games against UTEP
SMU is 2-5-0 SU in its last 7 games after scoring 21 to 30 points

UTEP cracked the top 25
only to fall to UAB
the miners bounce back and beat SMU
which will never be shit after that scandle
