1/4 squats possibly underrated?

OK...I know a lot of people on here are anal about going to parallel and as am i...
So i never really tried partial squats...but i tried them a few days ago(yeah and knowing everyone will make a comment on my stupid form)...but heck...they seemed to work my ass and my hammies more then regular half squats...even my lower back was good and stiff...also prob b/c of the greater weight...

Anyone else try them or do them? How has it helped you? worked out?

i am fixing to start doing these to help out with my event training.

I think they could have their uses... I don't do them myself, but I don't see how they would not be useful working them in and not as a mainstay of your routine (like spatts suggested working them in on your rotation) I think they will let you use higher weight, and I know you are probably most interested in athletic applications from your previous posts, so just think- when was the last time you went to parallel on the field?

Yeah that's the thing...i feel it MORE in my hams and ass then full squats...as in going to parallel...

Prob the weight though...

Can someone say more about how 1/4 squats help? I remember reading something a while back about how shallower squats could help those of us with long femurs.

For me doing heavy partial squats make the regular squats feel easier. I forgot what the term for it was, it has to do with nervous system adaptation. As far as partial squats and long femurs, the partial squats would give you better leverage and if you have poor leverages for squatting these might give better results than a full ROM because you can work the muscles more intensely with heavier weight
