Welcome to Kevin Levrone's training log

That's right boys, the Kevin Levrone is doing an online log of his progress as he gets back in the gym. I will be posting his daily videos so we can all follow along with him.

I talked to him briefly today, and told him I'd get a following on here to watch this iconic bro.

Known for his unsurmountable genetic capabilites, and having placed in the top 3 in 50 top competitions, winning 20 of them, and a 2009 IFBB Hall of Fame inductee, this is going to be VERY exciting to watch.

You can also follow along at www.levronereport.com

hey buff is he going to try and compete again?

No, he isn't as far as I know. I wish he would. He is 44 years old though, and I think he should leave his legacy as is.

He's doing this natural. No sauce or even supplements he said.

So did he "Give up" the acting? I know he was staying pretty slim for trying to get work in the industry, has he given that up?

This is awesome? Yeah I was also wondering if he's still trying to make a name on the film industry.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but did he only do some sets of bench press and leg press in his first workout or did he do anything else?

I don't know about that bro. We aren't real tight or anything like that so I don't have any details on his personal life.

Just to let those who don't know who he is, check out this

IMO, the best performance ever put on stage. I get awestruck every time I watch this. Absolutely stunning.

There is no way this guy gains 40lbs of muscle in 2 months like he said he would without steroids. Unless he meant to say 40lbs including alot of fat gain.

Just wait and see.

It won't be 40lbs of muscle, but just watch and see how sickening it is of the mass he will put on in a short period of time.

This guy took LONG breaks during his competition years. He could get ready for a show in 3 months after taking a long break and take 1st place. Of course, he was juicing then obviously.

He hasn't hardly lifted at all in 4 years and look at his arms. They are still very muscular and thick compared to your average guy.

Levrone was known for being able to put on major amounts of muscle in a short period of time. Steroids may have been icing on the cake but he's just gifted this way.

Agreed Dabuffguy about that Mr.O 2002 clip you posted. Truly inspirational.

THis is great. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I think it is admirable that he wants to do it natty. I can't believe he took so much time off and 1500 cals/day geez. I'd think a pro bodybuilder would be addicted to those workouts even after comp is done.

Two questions -
does he really need support from a belt when doing pushdowns? and if so why?

is there any reason he seems to be doing more cable/machines stuff rather than free weights when he plans to put on alot of muscle in a short amount of time?

as i always say...resistance is resistance, you're body doesn't know if the resistance is connected to a cable or not.

Kevin comes through!

A few days ago when we talked, I asked him to get up a "Before" picture and he said "You ask for it, you got it bro. Just give me a couple days."

So here it is:

Not to shabby for a 44 year old guy who hasn't lifted for a few years.

btw most pros who knew levrone during his competitive years said they never saw the guy eat. But he LOVED to drink. Dude would drink and party all night and was still kicking everyones ass

dude still has some thick ass arms for not training in years

He's already gained 11 lbs and by the looks of it 6 are in his triceps. WTF. Gimme some of those genetics.

This is great. I've been enjoying his workouts. It's subtle, but watch his emphasis on the negative. Very telling stuff.

no one here actually believes he is doing this natural right?

Ehhh, why would he lie? He state in several of his latest videos that he would mention if he was going to take any "natural" supplements to help.

There's nothing wrong with this of course, but when i heard him say that the first thing that popped in my mind was supplement endorsement.

He's going to blow up fast as well as gain a big following so companies should be lining up to get him on their products.

If he's doing this natural, then that magnifies the supplement endorsement.

Like i said, he's an athlete and deserves to get paid. There's nothing wrong with it. I'm not saying he's a crook or anything.

No, I know. It seems like he's just doing this for pride though. He claims in one of his videos in the past three weeks that he'll never compete again.

LOL, I hate this guy. I'm on week 6 and I've made half (if that) the progress he has in 3. Props to him.

don't hate him, hate God for giving him beyound freakish genetics LOL...i'll be right back, i need to go pray for some

Went to Levrone's blog today and it's receiving almost 20,000 hits a day, which is more than any body building site! Impressive Kevin!

Iv got to say, even though he was truly a great bodybuilder...i am suprised how weak he is now, obviously not compared to your average guy but to think that many years of massive cycles and how big and strong these guys were in the offseason. A real eye opener. Titus looked tiny on the vids iv seen of him - you would have thought they would have maintained more size and strength.

He did not train for 4 years...at times it seems he is weak but when you put it in the perspective of being off for that long he really is strong. I feel weak after a month off let alone 4 years.

No kidding. He didn't lift for 4 years and could still manage a 1RM on bench of 315. That's pretty damn strong if you ask me.

I have to give him his props...whatever he does or doesnt do he still is making progress. Most of it is got to be muscle memory but this remainds me of IGF/HGH combo. He must have done some in his life and those extra muscle cells do stay there and come back later on for damn sure.

But all in all it is inspirational to think that after a 4 year layoff he is making great progress is a understatement!!

What suprises me is how little he eats too...4 of those meals is like 2000cal a day if that. Is his thyroid that slow, and he does cardio on top of that for 45min!

He's on about 3000 calories a day. His muscles just soak up nutrients way better than most people.

Hes soaked up a shed load more other things than most too!! haha. Ye what hes doing is great but im still suprised how much strength hes lost....of course, i guess it will all come back very soon. Good thread.

Im not suprised about the strength loss. It goes away if you dont lift but it comes back very quickly if you start again.
If I lay off for a while i can hardly do 275 on bench but I can rep 315 within few weeks if I eat right and train religiously. I guess if you have mature muscle cells the muscle memory comes back to pretty much where you left off
If he is doing this naturally he has some serious muscle memory!

It's all about proper training and eating which is just as important.

Yep. 2 months ago I couldn't even bench 185 1rm. Today I put up 275 twice. Haven't lifted in three years, so the muscle memory thing is definitely true. I was benching 400 three years ago so I'm still "weak" by that gauge but I'm sure Levrone was benching 500 in 2000 and he's probably around 335 on bench right now. "Weak" by his standards, beast man weights if you ask me.

Levrone's squat is pretty weak right now, I'll admit that, but my squat is terrible right now as well. It's not surprising he can only do 275 for 6 reps right now.

I think maybe sometimes we get disillusioned with what "heavy" weight is when we keep watching Ronnie squat and deadlift 800 lbs. I'll be very happy when I can deadlift 500 again.
