well I plan on doing everything that i need to do to finish up. i have already transitioned much of the responsibility of the call center to the new manager so I dont have A LOT to do, but i will get everything done that's on my plate so to speak.

That depends. The "calling in sick" scenario doesnt always work.

At least not in Canada.

If you call in sick the day before or after a holiday, you wil not get paid for that holiday or the day before or after. A lot of companies use that policy.

unless you're sick. and liberal canada has a tough time calling people liars unliek us lol. If people are getting a good severance, they may come in and help. If not, and they're getting fucked - no one gains by having them coming in, pissed off and doing dick all.

So my call center is moving our of state so we all are being laid off, tomorrow May 28 is our last day. We were all given a severance package (the # of weeks varies depending on the level of your position and how long you have been with the company).

So, with the last day being tomorrow, there are some people who i have overheard are not planning on coming to work tomorrow. I hope they lose their severance. It's not "last day optional". But, I guess this is the mentality of entry level hourly wage earners. And they will be in this type of entry level job their whole lives.
