Why do some people fear aspartame?

Alucard said:
Aspartame is dangerous to those who have PKU, a genetic condition that prevents proper metabolism of aspartame, causing there to be extreme neurotoxicity. If you had this condition, you'd know it.

For the rest of us, it is safe.

Way to spread bad information.

not sure who you are saying is spreading bad info.

As far as I know Sweet n'low still carries a warning label on every pack, stating that it may cause cancer. And the Univ. of Florida backs me up...

There's a lot of anecdotal reports/worry that long term use causes brain tumors.
My family has always wondered if that had anything to do with my dad dieing of gleoblastoma, a very fast moving brain tumor.
He didn't smoke, ate tons of vegetables, very little alcohol or anything bad, execercised....
he was the poster child for healthy living,
till he was cut down by brain cancer.
If cancer is caused by substances, then aspertame is about the only substance he used that could be responsible.
But I'll be the first to admit that's not a scientific study.

Aspartame is 100% safe for 99.99% of the population
