Why do females take steroids?

Why do the BB chicks with serious man-face always slather on the makeup as if they applied it with a mason's trowell?

All ladies who compete on stage, whether it's figure, body building or fitness, apply the make up with a trowel...just think of it as stage make up.

You have to match the protan color and make sure you don't look washed up on stage.

Trust me, we don't choose to, but rather have to. And it feels awfull and we are all happy after the show when we can finally take a shower and get rid of all the make up, protan, 1/2 hair spray bottle and everything.

1/10 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy UNDERestimating. If they are pro and COMPETITIVE, they have used. There MAY be 1 out of 50 that have not used something. I am talking about those competing at the Figure Olympia and such. In order to be competitive, you use. Pure and simple.

I can guaran-damn-tee you that any figure competitor you are drooling over has used SOMETHING.

Not only pro, ladies, if you are considering competing at national level, you gotta juice up to stay with the pack.

So...To compete at top 10 National Level implies that you 1) juice up and 2) have implants.

Implants are  I used to not care back when I was a kid, but now that I know more about them I have zero interest in them. Although some of them can look pretty real if they're proportionate....but it's still a trick. It's along the same lines of fake tans.

How each person perceives such things though is the bottom line.

Very true. My post was not clear - that is what I was meaning - competing at the Nat'l level AND pro. I was not clear. :) Thank you for pointing that out. :)

do any of the pro figure girls appeal to you?

honestly?

I would bet that 1/10 have used some form of steroid. Not gone overboard with it.. but low mild doses.

some go way overboard I agree but some know their limits

Oh I'm sure there are a precious few pros who DON"T use. I also think you'd be suprised who does use just in the world in general. To Gambino -- what you perceive as "womanly" could have been chemically enhanced and you just don't know it.

Why do women use steroids? Well, let's take a look at who might be using:

- obviously professional FBBs. with the direction judging has gone since the "golden era" of BB (e.g. late 80s) it is essentially a requirement to compete.
- fitness competitors -- pretty damn hard to compete into your 30s with the intensity and leanness that these girls do. You will probably start seeing fitness suffer as a sport relative to figure because of the intense requirements.
- figure competitors -- because just as FBB went further and further into the big / hard look, IMO figure is probably going continue to edge in that direction as the number of competitors increases, the need for some sort of edge to stand out in this sport that is based entirely on a couple minutes on stage doing nothing but quarter turns and look as photogenic and aethetically pleasing as possible. Other directions you see are the amount of bling on the suits, etc.
- athletes looking for the extra edge for more strength, speed, endurance, etc. with greater recovery time, etc.
- older women looking for some help in maintaining lower bodyfat, etc. fighting the effects of aging
- women looking for increased libido
- younger women looking to get that extra edge early if they wish to pursue a competition-based career
- women who depend on their bodies / looks for a career -- e.g. the "beach body", models, etc.
- women who need to recovery quickly and maintain an particular look for extended periods of time for photo shoots, etc.
- women looking to get an edge in recovering from injuries

The easy target is those who "abuse" steroids and end up looking extremely masculine. But these things are available and w/ the internet, there is more knowledge of them and even easier access, so people will use them for many different purposes. As stated above, HOPEFULLY they will be very informed before they decide to use AAS to achieve whatever their goals are, but I think you would be very suprised as to who uses and the statement of "I think women who use steroids are nasty" is all based on your perception of what a steroid user looks like.

Thanx Sassy, for the intelligent input!

LOL :)

Now can we rant about the guys who use steroids but still pound beers and think girls love their big muscles but some how don't really notice the fat bloat that comes along w/ an unintelligent cycle + lack of diet?
