Why chicken smells like fart?

Hey bros, I'm a newbie!
Just started living on my own near school and don't have mom to cook anymore, so I'm going to learn. It is tough to find decent food here that is not trash. I bought a full 12oz plastic case of chicken breast for my diet, I will be eating chicken and seafood most of the time. When I open that plastic case I noticed that smell like fart, are they rotted or it's just the smell of raw chicken?
I'm just worried because this chicken really smells like fart.

Check the best before date on the package. Raw meat should not smell like farts. It should have a 'meaty' smell to it. It's hard to explain but it should not smell like farts or have a rancid smell to it.

Since you are new to cooking and don't know what raw meat is supposed to smell like, check the best before date on the package. If it's expired, throw it out. It isn't worth risking a serious illness from eating expired meat.

I know the exact smell your talking about. I never eat chicken if it smells like that or gets slimey. Doesn't necessarily mean it's bad yet but also like my man said not worth the risk. Packaging could have been damaged and not air tight if the expiration date is still good. Another thing I look for in chicken is not to "white" and not to "pink"

As my brother says - if the food looks suspicious, it is because there is something suspicious about it, so it is best to avoid it. After all, it will be more expensive for you to deal with possible health consequences than get some other chicken meat.

A lot of sliced, processed meat smells like that right when you open it. I think it's because it contains the same substances that come out of not properly digested protein (cause of gas).
