WHO here feels that 200 mg Protein/day is sufficient?

NYBodyguard said:
Well first not all protein is the same, its amazing how many people eat one real meal a day and the rest is all shakes, you will never gain real mass doing that.

Start eating real chicken, steak, eggs, fish etc.

Took me a while to learn

>> I agree and disagree , My diet has always been 6 meals , 3 shakes , 3 real foods ... I have always got most of protein intake from shakes .. and It does work for me ...

However I will try your aproach soon as I have read that real food is really the way to go ...I will limit my shakes to 2 times a day on my next cycle ...

I used to but now that i'm older I need every potential advantage I can get. I try to get close to 300 daily now but then I weigh 250'ish.

I agree, eating real food is really important.

I mix up 4 serving s of whey (yeilding about 60g protein) and one Met-Rx (37g protein). I take this with me and sip it all day long. I also take 60-80g postworkout, and a 40g shake of mainly soy (for slow digestion) right before bed.

That's 60 + 37 + 40 + 70(av) = 200 ish - other 120 is from real food.

I eat a big 250gram bag of pretzels each day at my desk for a steady stream carbs (thats 190g of carbs) I take a fibre supp each night and get in at least 5 serving of fruit and veg a day.

I have all sorts of horrid constipation issues with higher protein levels. Thinking about adjusting them for good!

I have been abusing laxatives JUST TO take shits once/day to every other day! Fucking abnormal!

I've tried digestive enzymes, laxatives, all sorts of fiber, i drink tons of water.high protein just wrecks me bowel-wise. :(

So....Anyone gain nicely on ust 200 grams Protein grams/protein per day?

How much do you weight? I take 1g=1 lbs to maintain weight/size and 1.5=1lb when trying to gain. Also, b/c w/the lax's. That clinically can be diagnosed as an eating disorder.

I'm solid 212 and I'm eating 200g a day. I'm gaining nicely.

I am 5'9 225

14% bdy fat

I TYPICALLY eat 300 grams/day.

2 shakes, the rest grilled chicken and red meat.

I think you'd be fine @ 200g/day to maintain. If you can bump it up a bit when you're "on" it would be great, but I don't see a prob w/running 200 most of the time.

200g, IMO, is not sufficient. Also, you didnt specify if this was 200g of COMPLETE protein, or just protein.

I'm 240 right now and don't take in more then 200 grams per day. IMO it's pointless, in the end it all comes down to calories, once the minnimum macro nutrient profile has been met ofcourse. I don't feel good forcing all the protein down. 200 grams is a good point for me. I consumed 200 grams even when i was 275lbs and never had any problems gaining muscle. The only thing i play with when i feel weaker or flatter is the carb intake and Fat intake, i increase or decrease one table spoon at a time. This is how it works for me, i jumped off the very high portein bandwagon a long time ago, continued to make great gains just like before and realised the brilliant marketing behind selling protein powders.
