Q: are people born gay, or is it an acquired taste?
in MY opinion, big AL, your are born either gay or str8. you can avoid it, repress it, deny it...but deep down inside, you are what you are. it's just part of your doner DNA, like brown eyes or curly hair.

It's so sad that our society is so fucking repressed that we have to be made to feel dirty/ashamed of WHO WE ARE just because "somebody else" said so.

I watched my ex-inlaws with this utter bullshit and sadly none of them have changed. My ex-brother-in-law, to me over 20 years ago it was OBVIOUS the man was gay. Yet his entire family denied it. The only reason that my ex had any semblence of a relationship was due to MY URGING to get to know his brother regardless of whether he was gay or straight. I mean, really what difference would it make?

Oh Gladiator - guess what? Even though he later confessed to me and my husband (his brother) that he ALWAYS KNEW HE WAS GAY he still got married in his early 20's and had a son. duh... think for a minute outside of your silly little bubble. Gay people have children all the time.

He watched a loved life partner shrivel and slowly die from aids but because his entire family were such fucking homophobes he was not allowed to acknowledge his pain and devastation the entire time, not even after the funeral where the only words of "comfort" he got from his own mother (none of the family attended the funeral) were, "Thank goodness he's dead and won't be a burden to you anymore." That man was "just a housemate after all" I mean, it wasn't like my exbro-in-law could have POSSIBLY LOVED HIM.

So then lo and behold, my exbitchsterinlaw has two sons, the second of which was flamingly obvioulsy gay from very early on - we are talking 4. But of course, just as her older brother (who finally succumbed to aids a few years ago) "was just going through a phase" when he came out of the closet to his siblings bout the age of 40 something there was NO WAY HER SON COULD BE GAY.

Fucking morons.

My daughters' cousin finally came out to them recently. The boy is bout 18 now.

Don't worry gladiator, regardless of what your christian homeys in prison told you god will love you regardless. And even if he don't there are non-haters in the world who will accept you for your merits and wont give a damn about your sexuality.

Ironically, a significant number of *gladiators* combating here in Ancient Rome Empire all across Europe were either gay, or bisexuals.

They screwed it all up after the establishment of Monotheist religions started by Christianity.

I wonder if anyone who uses the biblical teachings to support discrimination against homosexuals have indeed ever read the entire bible.

Why is it so convenient to just pick-and-choose what suits better how some moral values should be imposed upon everybody else?

"Neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee." -- Leviticus 19:19

Coincidentally Levites were the same good ol' chaps who bashed gheyers, and even though Christians do not consider themselves to be bound by the Levitical laws they made an exception regarding homosexuality.

Anyhow, do your gym garments mix two different fibres?

See guys, help me understand this, and I have nothing against gay people...I have a few friends that are gay, I think they're fabulous dressers and have a good fashion sense lol

But seriously, I can't comprehend how someone can be born gay...it just goes against genetics, nature, etc...

I can comprehend how someone would turn gay due to life experiences, surroundings, environment, meeting people, etc....but born gay, how is that possible? different DNA?

Is there a scientific explanation or proof?

born imho

If you believe they are born homo - and I agree, then why don't you believe they deserve spouse insurance or, more important you your field, inheritence deductions.

is it, all men were created equal, except for the ones born gay?

Confused!!

No, there has not been found any scientific evidences proving that there's a specific gay gene. However, there are some researchers who believe in the theory that homosexuality is just another diversity within human sexuality, that could be caused by the environment as well. In fact, it is not limited only to humans. You may find many cases of homosexuality amongst other animals whether they are mammals or not.

I realize that homosexuality seems to defy nature by causing parts to misalign so as not to procreate but there are other naturally occuring circumstances that limit fertility, are there not?

If it weren't for science then I would have never been able to concieve a child no matter how much I wanted one. Then there is the opposite, heterosexual people who DONT want children.

There is nothing to understand. Why do I like red? Why do I like steak? Why do I REALLY like a good hot toddie when the weather is cold and damp but never EVER want rum otherwise, matter of fact I am repulsed by the taste most times?

It just is. :)

You know what? I think it is irrelevant whether it's genetic or not. Everybody pays taxes, right? Nobody asks you if you are gay so that you're going to have some tax relief or whatever. Therefore, people just have the burden to enjoy the duties and not the benefits?

What two consenting adults decide to do it's up to them and a democratic state that is funded upon equality should not dictate what exact gender you should marry or not. This is a fundamental principle of freedom and individual liberties as importantly as freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

if you're confused, imagine being me. . .like i said, i don't really know, except i think that part (maybe all) of it is that i don't believe that the current legal matrimonial system (specifically the divorce end of it) or the current health insurance system can handle the additional burden. . .period. . .to me a big part of it is dollars and cents. . .like i said, i'm sure i'm wrong. . .
