when to eat before workout

a normal meal takes about 2.5 hours to digest to a decent level, from what i've heard. so have your last proper meal like two or so hours before your workout - at least that's what i've found to be best for me. I generally have a cheeky protein shake half and hour before hand as well.
 
I normally do it between 1 and 2 hours before, not an exact science as it depends on WHAT you are eating.
 
since I make my meals every 2.5 to 3 hours. For workout I usually have my meal at least 1 to 1.5 hour before, because after 2.5 hours I start to feeling empty and find difficult to train at my 100%

I agree. I try to get most of my nutrients from real food.

IMO you should eat about 1.5-2 hours before hitting the gym, have a shake right before and right after your workout.
