When do you listen & when do you suck it up and do it ...

when you feel tired and are scheduled to train?

Scenario: I'm sitting here at my little computer trying to finish up at least 3 little items on my big list of tasks that need to be done yesterday for any of my various projects at work. I'm tired. I've already had a giant cup of coffee this morning, 2 diet cokes & a t-rex at 3 pm. I was up too late last nite and obviously I need some sleep. I'm scheduled for back training & could really use some cardio because I woke up too late to do it this morning. I love back night, but hate cardio. What should I do?

- Take the night off & get a decent nite's rest?
- Train just back?
- Just do cardio & save back for tomorrow nite?

The obvious thing to say is, well stop staying up so damn late stooopid. However, my question is specifically to determining at what point you should listen to your body & take that day off, do a partial training or just shut up & do it?

What would you do? What would you feel like doing? WHat would you regret doing? What would you consider a 'wuss-out'? What is thing Shadow would tell you to do?

I know how you feel :)

If it were me right now, I'd go & train just back. Chances are you will feel better & relaxed........which MAY lead into a 20min HIIT session. If it doesn't, at least you got in a good back WO.

Than go home, have a hot bath, a good night sleep & you'll be ready for your cardio tomorrow am. :)

When I feel like this...I ALWAYS go to the gym.

Ill do a couple of ywarm-up sets and see how I feel....most if the time, once I get there I feel physically better and psycologically I feel MUCH better b/c I made an effort......

If im not feeling the weights..Ill try cardio.....same deal.

Even if you gohome...the guilt factor isnt there that you didnt at least try

Train back, go home take a shower and go to bed.

I'm way too hard on myself, I'd "shut up and do it" ... in my head, afterwords I know I will feel better -

I Agree with Shadow

Normally when I'm having one of these days.. I still head to the gym. Once I'm changed and get in the atmosphere most of the time I feel better..

First I'll do warmsets and guage how they feel ... if I feel like I can't give 100% to my workout I go hit the cardio and head home. If I don't give any effort then I feel guilty.. I have to at least get in there and try.

Basically I do the exact same thing. I don't think about it. I put my body into auto-pilot mode and next thing you know it's a time warp you are already doing the weights in your gear so you my as well push through... half the time you get a decent work-out in and feel sooo much better.
I do that in the morning for HIIT training. I do everything in the dark. Turn the shower on, take the shower, scrub the skin, put the yohimburn on, take the dog out, start my radio, and then a small light comes on, and then my running shoes, and then next thing you know I'm beginning to walk... Still not coming into reality at this point... Not till about 5-7 minutes of speed walking... At that point no use in turning around... You'll be up by the time you try and go get laid back down to sleep, and you'll be wasting that precious yohimburn lotion. So my as well do it!
