What would you do..?

You've already done most of the training & dieting work. At this point it is really how important it is for you to validate that results and show it off. Its up to you how you want to do it. There's a lot of prep work & money that goes into a show, above and beyond the mental preparedness for it so the decision has a lot of weight. But I think you will kick yourself if you don't do it and do it all. When you are doing your first show, it is just natural to make it a huge deal in your mind and that just adds to the stress. But I really think that once you get all the toys & stuff that go w/ doing the show, you will be compelled to go out & strut your stuff. And when its all over, no matter how it turns out, you will have the people who love you around you, the photos, the EXPERIENCE! You may decide you are happy w/ the result and never want to go thru it all again. OR you may be hooked. Then every show after that will not carry near the amount of stress. Hell, every public appearance you make will not be that big a deal. The only down side I see to this whole experience is just your fear of going out there. Figure is NOT as big a deal as BB. You get all beautiful and then you go and show people. :)

And sweetie, you are beautiful and you REALLY NEED to show people!

Frisky, I definiately understand. I've been ok until now, now that everything is coming together, I got my hair done and have set up all the appts, for the waxing, hair and makeup day of show, got the confirmation that I'm in the show, got the email that my suit will be ready next week. Now I'm so excited and so damn afraid and nervous all at the same time, it's hitting me, I've spent so much time, effort, and money. And alot of friends and people who are like family will be there, I can't believe I'm doing this. Hell yesterday morning I almost cried just visualizing myself on the damn stage, when I was practicing the walk. And this show is huge, thousands of people will be there. Thank gawd that there's a pre-judging where I told nobody about, the only person coming to that is my sister inlaw, not even my bf I told him no, so I don't have to worry about them being there.

Sorry about rambling on about my situation.

Basicly, I think you should do the show you set out to do, suck it up girl and just do it, do it for yourself, because I know this is something you really want to do.

:rose: You chicks are a voice of reason.. SERIOUSLY! I am a thinker.. such a damn bad thing at times. Over analize things grrrrrrrrr......

And gosh.. just reading what you are feeling right now gave me chills.. I can so relate. such a good inspiration for me... Thank you!

you want to be as comfortable as POSSIBLE!! so if you feel that the smaller show will give you a little more experience and you can get your feet wet... then do that... these comps already do a number on your mind, plus add in the low carbs etc etc... its very nerve racking I am not going to lie... but with each show you will become more comfortable being up on stage and it will get easier I PROMISE!!! so if you want to do the smaller one go for it and don't feel bad about it... there is always another show around the corner....

Thanks Court.. this is my initial way of thinking... the good thing is I don't have to make a split second decision. I'm gonna have my suits in time for the comp on the July 9th so if I decide to do it I can. I can actually sign up the day before the comp. And then if I want to do both I can.

I sometimes add too much pressure to myself.. by thinking to damn much.

Whoa,... wheres that bottle of red wine when I need it.. lol ;)

BTW Frisky -- do look around for someone to talk to about this show, or any first show. People *WANT* to help you so don't be afraid to start up a conversation and get the 411.

Well, I don't have a lot of experience with stuff like this, but I've done a type of "show" (lingerie) once or twice where I had to be out on stage, etc -- took me 2 screwdrivers (the drink) to go out there. Once I was out there I was ok.

I like Sassy's idea of doing both shows. Like you said, you'll get to use your suit more that you're prolly gonna spend $$$ for and the experience will be helpful to you. And you're already dieted, tanned, etc for the 1st show so you've just got to show up.

I've read Elaine Goodlad has severe stage fright. Could you look up on the 'net something about her or email her & see if she has any tips??

Thank you Sassy.. my voice of reason. ;) I know that if I walk away it will haunt me. I know that when I do I like to do big... Thats just me. I want the hardest fight I want to know I kicked ass to get to that peak.

That was my biggest struggle about going to a smaller show first.

I don't care about a trophy.. I'd love one yes.. but will it change the fact that I kicked ass for months before.. dieted trained.. and was in the best shape of my life.. NO... It won't.

Figure is my first choice because I don't have to do the posing etc.. but gosh i'd love to take that leap one day. And hopefully one day soon. :verygood:

I seriously need to get out of this over thinking mode and just do it.. :)

I once read this from a lovely little lady...

"~The only way to make a dream come true is to wake up and live it~"

Use this fear and fright to drive you... we got your back hun...

You will do GREAT, don't back down Frisky :rose:

What she said....

Frisky huney if you need to make another 1000 of these threads before it's your turn to compete, then do so, and in every one of them you will have us in there to support you, and to tell you that you can do this....BECAUSE YOU CAN, and WE BELIEVE IN YOU.

I've told you before and I'll tell you again, and again as many times as you need to hear it...YOU CAN DO THIS, and I'm here for you whenever you need me.

I  U too girl
