What kinds of carbs after workout?

This has probably been asked before, so forgive if it has.

I eat a piece of fruit, apple or banana, after working out. Is this a good kind of carb?

Thanks!

no not really
fruits = fructose
fructose fill up liver glycogen which is not what you want
post workout u want to fill up ,muscle glycogen and fast

good sources are
glucose
dextrose
Maltodextrin

in a 2:! ratio with some whey isolate (WPI) or Hydroisolate (HWP)

then about 45 minutes - 1 hour after eat another carby meal something more moderate in GI

I sometimes eat pasta or rice or oatmeal

sometimes even bread... this is the best time to eat carbs

most people use dextrose, but you can basically use anything with a high GI, i think a banana would be ok. i hope you're also taking protein as well!

I made a banana-protein-milk shake today after workout. God it tasted horrible. Plus it got really frothy.

I think I'll put a bunch of Splenda in it next time. That has dextrose and maltodextrin.

Not in the amounts required to spike insulin. You need at least 20 grams of dextrose (and that's a bare minimum) to have any appreciable effect on blood sugar (with respect to driving protein where it's needed after a workout, etc.,). The amount found in artificial sweetners is so small as to be insignificant (that's the whole point of artificial sweetners!).
