"What is your view on the relationship between "sex" and "love"?

I have NEVER cheated though I have been cheated on.

And yes, I know that A LOT of women cheat. For the record, I haven't and I don't get that type of behavior. I am not saying that I dont understand how it happens. I am not a child, of course, I understand how it can happen. All I am saying is that this type of behavior just isn't part of who I am. Call me crazy, but it just isn't me.

This thread got me thinking, particularly with respect to relationships...of how some spouses will kill both their SO and his/her lover over an act of infidelity, while others "expect" it to happen and deal with it, while even further yet you have "swinging" couples who go a step further than merely taking it in stride.
Surely there are many elements that come into play here, ie levels of security, trust, morals, etc.
I'm of the opinion that if you're going to be in a relationship, you should only be banging your SO. No one appreciates being cheated on, and if you seriously consider cheating, you should seriously consider ending the relationship before doing so (although how often does it work that way). If an SO of mine ever suggested a threesome with another woman I'd be skeptical (although certainly intrigued) of the idea, and at least initially, her as well.

Your thoughts....

I concur. I think love takes time whereas the desire for sex is more of an immediate reaction. I never used to believe in love. MY GOD. What the fuck is going on here? Make it stop.

Also, my opinion about swinging if all the adults are consenting and informed, then who is hurt?

It just isn't for me as

A - I refuse to share what is mine.

B - I will not degrade a woman to an object regardless of how willing she is.

Choosing one person for your life partner is a much newer thing, and is NOT something that increases the survival of your DNA, what if your one partner was not fertile, etc. That would be weeded out through natural selection.

Dude, we're already pushing the the world with our overpopulation. We no longer have a intrinsic biological need to reproduce in such a way (although the biological urge may be there).

People bitch if they can't reproduce without bounds and people bitch when a natural disaster such as a plague wipes out millions. Take your pick. Because you don't have a choice.

We can't expect that much from mankind. Maybe 10% or so, if we're lucky.

Guys, it smells like burning toast in here. I think I'm about to have a seizure. If I don't post in the next few minutes, worry about me. Or just call 911. Tell them to bring Poptarts cause I'm guessing a seizure is going to leave me feeling pretty hungry.

That is bullshit.

I am this way. My best gf is that way. My sister is this way. Her husband is this way and so is my husband, Grumpy Old Man. Now what are the chances that EVERY adult that I surround myself with is of this opinion?

I suppose us birds, just like to flock together.

My ex, on the other hand, isn't of this predeliction. Go figure.

Choosing one person for life isn't really that big a problem. People get to know each other over the years - learn to love each other more. The problem is that most people choose the wrong person. We (or at least most people I know) are usually attracted to the worst person for them. Then comes getting cheated on, cheating.
The boys I pick aren’t good for the long term.
I’m sure it is the same for most people.
Maybe it is a way of protecting yourself from getting too attached.
